TheWizardOfWhimsy - 11/17/2008 5:02:28 PM Isn't it always the case, David, that the legless critic often criticizes the runner? Love the un-minced-ness of your response! 40205. thoughtful - 11/17/2008 5:04:57 PM I saw parts of the obama interview.
I don't know how everyone, regardless of which side of the aisle they sit, isn't breathing a sigh of relief that the country is being put in the hands of someone who is measured, thoughtful, smart, and actually interested in doing the job.
I also can't help but think how embarrassing it must be to be W...to be the lamest of ducks ever with no one really caring what he says or does as he had already faded into total irrelevancy months ago and is now nearly invisible. I'm sure he's deluding himself over his performance in office and I'm sure he's just delighted that he'll be able to retire to crawford to go fishing which is what he's always wanted anyway. But somewhere inside he knows, like most of the rest of his life, he's f'd this up too.
Still, as pitiable figure as he is, I can't feel a drop of sympathy. 40206. thoughtful - 11/17/2008 5:44:19 PM has anyone seen or heard anything from dick cheney? is he spending his last few days shredding everything in sight? a better prospect than planning an attack on iran.... 40207. magoseph - 11/17/2008 5:56:19 PM The last time I saw him on the News was when he showed his residence to the Bidens. I think it was last Friday.

40212. alistairconnor - 11/17/2008 6:56:34 PM I think W's destiny will be rather like Gorbachev's.
He'll be seen by his own people as a disaster, the cause of a great nation's downfall. He will be hugely unpopular but completely irrelevant, an object of contempt and derision.
Oh, but unlike Gorbachev, he won't be popular in other countries either. 40213. David Ehrenstein - 11/17/2008 7:38:36 PM I never mince.
Well not verbally at any rate. 40214. judithathome - 11/17/2008 8:22:27 PM We saw the 60 Minutes interview last night and loved every minute of it.
Keoni used to be an investigator...inner-company, loss prevention...and he has been trained to spot "tells", personal tics which give you away when you're lying. He caught Obama in two "pseudo lies" in that interview...pseudo used as "non-harmful shadings of the truth": once when he said Bush was gracious in the White House tour and strangely enough, again when he said speaking with former presidents, they told him the job of being President was "lonely".
Keoni said the second one might be because Obama didn't believe it and that could be because he has such a close connection with his wife...in other words, couldn't ever BE lonely.
Speaking of feeling good about having a smart and articulate man in the White House, I said to Keoni that the comparison was like Socrates to Ozzy Osbourne. 40215. jexster - 11/17/2008 8:27:52 PM "Ladies and gentlemen, Barack Obama is our new president.
And I think I speak for most Americans when I say, anybody

David Letterman 40216. jexster - 11/17/2008 8:34:21 PM I think Keoni's on to something with that lonely take. When I read the transcript, it was much more believable now that I percolate on it.

I can feel the indignation and outrage fading. It also means more time in the real studio, less in the digital--thankfully! 40218. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 11/17/2008 9:08:57 PM
