Our new Governor, Gregg Abbott, in his acceptance speech last night introduced his wife as "the very first Hispanic First Lady of Texas"....I'm sure that fact was a shocker to many in this state...this campaign, he brought her out AND had her mother do an ad for him in Spanish...first time ANYONE outside Austin knew his wife was Hispanic.

That is the sort of crap we can expect from the Republicans...use 'em when it's convenient; ignore 'em otherwise.

I would be willing to bet one of his first moves as Governor is to make a show of tightening up the border.

Arkansas is about to be in really deep doodoo. They may very well roll back their unique way of implementing Obamacare, which dramatically increased our percentages who had health insurance, which means that it will be taken away from thousands of people. They're also talking about going back to consolidating schools ASAP. We met with Asa Hutchinson way back when, and that didn't seem to be a priority of his, but now that he's governor I think he'll move on it pretty quickly. Poor folks had best be glad they gave themselves a tiny raise. They're going to need it. Everything from education to health insurance to anything else the state can put its mitts on to take away from poor people in a very poor state is going to come under attack.

Well, we have you beat in the healthcare take-back...they can't take away that which they never gave in the fist place.

45847. judithathome - 11/6/2014 8:39:30 PM

Here in Texas, I mean.

45848. arkymalarky - 11/7/2014 12:07:03 AM

yes, tx is the worst in the nation and was before the aca. but I will hate to see people here get it taken after only having it a little while. it would be a shitty thing to do. ar had actually moved up to one of the best levels of insured in the south.

fuckers

45850. arkymalarky - 11/7/2014 7:16:20 PM

Matt Taibbi is brilliant.

45851. iiibbb - 11/7/2014 8:09:03 PM

Why some of these people aren't guilty of treason, I don't know.

45852. judithathome - 11/7/2014 10:06:24 PM

Because the money guys who rule the country love them, that's why.

We don't have a democracy...we have a cashocracy.

45853. judithathome - 11/7/2014 10:07:51 PM

45856. Ms. No - 11/8/2014 9:42:09 PM

45857. judithathome - 11/8/2014 11:50:02 PM

Me, too...but I'm going to have to have that remark he made explained to me.

Yes...I am that dense.

45858. arkymalarky - 11/9/2014 12:23:33 AM

45859. judithathome - 11/19/2014 2:05:34 AM

Keystone XL pipeline vote fails to receive 60 votes in the Senate.

45860. wabbit - 11/27/2014 11:39:37 PM

Why would we spend who knows how many billions on the private enterprise Keystone Pipeline when infrastructure work would create many more good paying jobs and benefit many more people.

Oh yeah, brain fart...Congress.

Nevermind.

45861. judithathome - 12/16/2014 11:53:54 PM

Watch Tom Coburn's Swan Song to Congress As He Single-handedly Blocks Veteran's Suicide Prevention Bill...

Absolutely shameless.

45862. arkymalarky - 12/17/2014 12:07:22 AM

Shameless is exactly right. If the idiot had any shame, Rachel Maddow would have made him feel it last night. She was fantastic.
