He's angry and mouthy and rich and white and narcissistic, so he appeals to the maximalist conservatives who feel betrayed by the Repub party. But even they blanched at his attack on McCain's war record, and they despise McCain. It appears that Trump will make it to at least the first debate, so that's all good.

Y'all HAVE to see this: Jon Stewart: Summer Trumpin'

45949. bhelpuri - 7/27/2015 6:11:10 AM

I must say I very much love seeing Trump lead the Republican polling by a super-wide margin. It is confirmation of everything I believe: that Party has been overrun by lunatics, they are deeply unserious, they cannot be entrusted with serious power. In effect, they are unelectable.

Of course, I am no great Clinton fan either. However, with her, the Repubs are going to see an actual game-changing liberal agenda (at home at least) which is much more left than anything they have been crying wolf about with regard the doggedly moderate, bridge-building Obama. These next few years are going to be fun to watch.

As the last few months have indicated --> the immediate US culture wars are over. The progressives have won. If/when Clinton wins, we will have evidence of a comprehensive rout.

Huckabee just "poo'd in his nest" to clean up an old Southern line that is used when someone makes a mess out of their surroundings...in this case, his hopes to become President.

Huckabee GOES There

45952. arkymalarky - 7/28/2015 12:13:45 AM

There's a reason the bumper sticker "shut the Huck up" was popular in AR when he was guv. His aw shucks RFD way is a very thin veneer that national media often buys because they haven't seen what Arkies have.

45953. judithathome - 7/28/2015 4:04:40 PM

Well, if anyone has any intelligence at all, they should see this charlatan for the yahoo he really IS: Who needs chemo when you have huckstering Mike on your side?

Trust me...the money guys who are buying this election aren't going to go for Bernie. No effing way....

45956. vonKreedon - 7/28/2015 11:14:01 PM

Bernie's definitely a threat to the system, and every now and then the people vote contrary to the money.

45957. judithathome - 8/3/2015 7:53:12 PM

Right...but not TODAY.

I think it is absolutely disgusting that people are "reporting" on the deathbed request of Joe Biden's son that Joe run for President...were these people THERE?

45958. judithathome - 8/18/2015 7:55:06 PM

Piyush Jindal just came out in favor of Trumps "no birthright exception"....wonder if he'd like it so much if it were to be made retroactive?

45959. iiibbb - 8/20/2015 12:54:39 PM

My wife always threatens to leave the country if a Republican wins as President. I tell her that she better get a kick-ass job because I don't think I'd be looking for work.

However...if Trump wins I might lead the charge. Holy fuck.

45960. judithathome - 8/20/2015 5:54:42 PM

Let us know...we'll join you guys and form a commune somewhere!

45961. judithathome - 8/20/2015 7:54:21 PM

Great...do you know why there's all this brouhaha over immigration? According to Jeb Bush just now...it's a wedge issue the LEFT always inserts into elections.

Yeah...the left PAID Trump to bring it up and Jeb was just swept along trying to defend/slam the policies of immigration.

Jeb says just now, when asked about the term "anchor babies"...."Do you have a better term?"

I was shocked...the people that term is applied to don't like it...would Jeb like being called a "honkie" by others or would he USE that world for lack of a "better term"? And ask reporters if THEY had a better one?

He's not going all out like Trump but he's waaay off base saying the LEFT started this brouhaha...they might be thankful for it but HIS SIDE started this shit.

To his credit...he's not talking as crazy as Cruz, Carson, and Walker...Walker, who more than likely missed that class in college where the 14th Amendment was studied. He said yesterday "Yes, I agree with Trump...we need to enforce the Constitution!" Not REWRITE it but ENFORCE IT...which is what we are doing NOW and which Trump opposes.

Walker is a stooge...he's definitely not ready for prime time.

45962. robertjayb - 8/20/2015 10:23:28 PM

Walker goes better with Koch.

45963. judithathome - 8/21/2015 7:37:10 PM

This is just TOO good not to share...someone posted this on my forum. Proof that the rest of the world is taking notice of the USA and their candidates: Trump "Impresses" New Zealand!

45964. Ms. No - 8/21/2015 10:51:38 PM

The columnist is right on, but I don't know whether to be alarmed or relieved that the comments of many Kiwis are quite nearly as rabid and ignorant as those of Yanks.

...or maybe it's just that there's a higher ratio of foaming-at-the-mouth among web comments in general.

Trump isn't just "plain-spoken." He is aggressively, relentlessly abusive in both the content and the manner of his speech. Contrary to what a couple of those comments stated, he isn't just saying what everyone else is thinking. The vast majority of people don't think that way, for which I am daily thankful.

45965. judithathome - 8/22/2015 10:05:54 PM

The vast majority of people don't think that way, for which I am daily thankful

Clearly, you are no longer living in the South!

I know you DID at one time but face it...the South is not California...I hear local people every single DAY praise this asshole Trump for "telling it like it is!"

Do you think ANYONE in Texas is supporting Rick Perry today? Or Hilary? Or Jeb Bush??? Hell, no...they're going rabid over TRUMP!

45966. iiibbb - 8/23/2015 2:43:01 PM

All a candidate has to do is point out how many times trump has been bankrupt (the answer is 4). If he hates McCain for not being a winner... why hasn't he dropped out?

He's a corporate welfare case who has benefited from a country that doesn't punish corporate losers.

And you don't get second chances with countries.
