46058. Ms. No - 10/27/2015 2:59:32 AM The whole Ben Carson thing has been tough on my students because they read his book Gifted Hands in their freshman year, and they all get inspired by him and think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread.
And if all he wanted to do/be was an example of how a kid on the bottom can succeed, that would be fine.
I'm always suspicious of these kinds of inspirational stories. I mean, everyone knows that they are the exception rather than the rule, but the implication is that anyone can do it if they just want to try hard enough. The flip side of that is that anyone who doesn't make it is just plain lazy....which means 99% of poor people.
Yeah, I know poor people with three jobs. Sure, they're just lazy. 46059. judithathome - 10/27/2015 6:29:14 PM Well, Carson will be unique if he wins the Presidential nod...likely he will be the first one to admit he attempted murder at 14. Luckily for the "friend" he attacked with a knife, the guy wore a big buckled belt to school that day.... 46060. judithathome - 10/27/2015 6:31:05 PM Link to story 46061. iiibbb - 10/27/2015 7:15:56 PM The guy from Ohio is the only one I could stomach if I had to. I would probably be able to stomach Jeb except that I hate his brother so much. According to the scores on political ideology Jeb should be my favorite of the Republicans.
But I can't do another Bush.
I'll take Hillary or Sanders. I like Sander's ideals, but I wonder how much he could actually get done. I may view him the way I view libertarians... "looks good on paper" but when you start to look at the practicalities of codifying the ideas without problems... it won't work. 46062. judithathome - 10/27/2015 7:37:09 PM Do you mean Kasich? I like him but he's getting NO traction...too sane, I guess. 46063. iiibbb - 10/27/2015 10:17:45 PM Kasich had the integrity to accept the SCOTUS decision on gay marriage even though he doesn't agree with it.
But fundamentally, I wouldn't vote for him over Clinton or Sanders because I don't agree with his politics.
But he's the only honorable candidate on the Republican side based solely on that datapoint. 46064. judithathome - 10/27/2015 10:46:00 PM I agree...he seems to be more qualified for the job...as opposed to the ones who know nothing about politics but seem to be preferred by idiot Republicans who think people don't even need to know what the job requires or even what the Constitution SAYS....are you kidding me?
Who ARE these people? If you want someone who is clueless, chance are YOU are, too. 46065. judithathome - 10/28/2015 8:51:55 PM "Our boy" Kasich told it like it is yesterday and rather than being viewed as honest and speaking truth to power, the Trumpists and Carsonites are calling HIM crazy...go figure.
Even Lindsay Graham is bewildered by these fans of two certified idiots..."How am I losin' to these guys??"
How, indeed.... 46066. winstonsmith - 10/29/2015 3:26:21 AM I'm going to have to rethink my Fiorina as veep prediction. I'm watching the debate and she talks and moves like a straight up freak. A super freak. 46067. arkymalarky - 10/29/2015 1:54:06 PM The new hairdo is not helpful. 46068. judithathome - 10/29/2015 7:14:50 PM It certainly hasn't "softened" her look.
However, after seeing her work a pair of low-waist Levis in Iowa...the lady has a nice body for her age! 46069. iiibbb - 10/30/2015 4:56:31 PM How on earth is Sanders being pegged as anti-Black and anti-woman?
He may be uncouth, but ffs.
Animal Farm.
That being said...any moron who says they're not voting for Hilary to punish her for some fringe minions of her calling Bernie sexist are fucking idiots. If they would allow one of these Republican numbnuts decide the next 2 SCOTUS justices _and_ essentially give control of congress and the presidency to the Republicans in order to punish Hilary.
I guarantee you that Hilary is not going to suffer one little bit.
46070. iiibbb - 10/30/2015 4:57:20 PM ___ this rant brought to you by some dumbshit internet meme I just read____ 46071. arkymalarky - 10/30/2015 6:37:33 PM That's Republicans trolls in a lame effort to foment strife. Won't work. 46072. arkymalarky - 10/30/2015 6:38:30 PM That's like the whole PUMA thing in 08. 46073. iiibbb - 10/30/2015 7:10:30 PM I think there are fringe voters out there who really think that they're punishing a candidate by not participating. 46074. iiibbb - 10/30/2015 7:10:54 PM Some are trolls, but some are serious. 46075. judithathome - 10/31/2015 5:19:46 PM And you can bet your ASS that if Hillary loses to a Republican nominee, and we get white-sheeted idiots on the Supreme Court, THESE nut jobs will be screaming the loudest..."How could this happen?"
How, indeed! It will be difficult enough to get even a moderate justice passed the Republican controlled Congress. 46076. robertjayb - 11/5/2015 10:16:44 PM Ah, yes. PUMAS: Party Unity My Ass. Early birthers I believe.
For some grins and groans on Dr. Carson. See Juanita Jean at The world's most dangerous beauty salon. 46077. judithathome - 11/6/2015 12:00:07 AM Ben Carson has released a radio ad that is a RAP....refresh my memory: did Obama ever release a rap ad?
I followed Obama's campaign pretty closely and I don't recall him doing so...because if he HAD, people would have gone ballistic...Carson does this and everyone thinks he's "cool"...go figure.
This is a man who threw a rock at a classmate in grade school and broke the kids glasses...pulled a knife on a classmate when he was a teen and only avoided injuring (or killing!) the kid because of a belt buckle...and hit his mother in the head with a hammer...but because this violent young man found GOD, he is forgiven by a majority of Republicans for his misdeeds...
President Obama had the audacity to become a community organizer and he is damned to hell forever by Republicans for doing so...
These stories about Carson's violent past are either extremely disturbing or lies...because he has yet to have anyone step forward to verify them...but in any case, it ALL sounds batshit CRAZY.
