Saw this astute analysis online: “The dilemma is who do you believe? A bleached-blonde with droopy breasts or Stormy Daniels?”

Ha! Love the title!

Does anyone else think that Ted Nugent and Frank Stallone should just get it over with and get married already?

Happy Easter everyone!

Good to see you RJB and winstonsmith!

I'm wondering how many small-government, anti-fed meddling, authoritarian-State fearing conservatives are going to speak up about the way the current administration is singling out specific states to punish financially for being openly critical of said administration?

How many good conservatives are going to stand up and say "Hey, it's an abuse of power to raise taxes in some states but not others based on which way they voted in the election."

Which of them will stand up and say "It's within a state's rights to set higher regulations on businesses within its borders if it wants to; Big Government should butt out. Afterall, the Market will determine whether or not the state is making a wise choice."

Or will they all just sit around and circle-jerk each other in glee that those uppity liberals in California and New York are finally getting what they deserve.

I'm thinking that maybe California and New York should take their money and go home. Let Texas support the rest of the Red States.

So, I'm not sure whether to be gratified that I was right in my first impression or really disappointed. Okay, that's not true. I'd happily give up being right at this point.

Comey's ego is as big as Trump's, and he seems to be every bit as self-serving and perhaps even more self-righteous.

Anyone who was holding out hope that Comey's testimony would be the linchpin to an obstruction of justice charge against Trump can hang it up after this memoir debacle.

Townhall media froze the RedState web site and fired all the writers who did not support Trump. This is sad because it was one of the few conservative sites that had a broader ideological coverage that included more traditional conservative viewpoints. I am not a conservative but there was some solid journalism at RedState that I appreciated.

Hitler didn't take over Germany all by himself.

This kind of thing is terrifying to me. The consolidation of media ownership isn't just wrong, it's dangerous.

How the hell am I supposed to teach my students to critically analyze anything in my one hour a day when the other 23 hours expose them to a constant barrage of bullshit and partisan hysteria?

One of the things that sucks the most about Trump is that he has no compunction about actively seeking to degrade the citizenry's trust in news reporting that is based upon sound journalistic method. He does this to achieve his short term self serving goals and to hell with the consequences.

It's been said -- and confirmed by Trump, himself -- that he thrives in a chaotic environment. He actively promotes chaos and friction in those around him.

What isn't said after that is that this is how he runs his cons. He whips everyone into a frenzy so they don't really pay attention to how he's picking all their pockets. IN the end, when it all crumbles to shit, everybody else is left holding the bag and Trump walks away fat and happy on the spoils.

It was disgusting when he did this as a private businessman. To do it as the President of the United States is criminal.

"It was disgusting when he did this as a private businessman. To do it as the President of the United States is criminal."

Yes, that about sums it up.

He'll leave office one way or another and regardless of the consequences to the nation, Trump will count it as a victory for himself --- and it will be. He made money on his campaign by ensuring that his own hotels and businesses were used whenever possible. He's making money hand over fist while he's in office based on his cache as leader of the free world.

Trump is treating the Office of the President as just a stepping stone to more money and notoriety for Trump.

He's like the dude who pursues the ugly chick in the bar --- ooh, yeah, baby, you're the hottest, the best, I wanna be your man forever --- then he gets her to blow him in the parking lot and leaves her with a stain on her shirt and a venereal disease wondering wtf just happened. I mean, you have to feel sorry for her, but you also have to wonder what she was expecting.

47173. winstonsmith - 4/27/2018 11:30:56 PM

It seems like Trump was really able to capitalize on/further precipitate a backlash against rapid cultural and economic change. He essentially said: " You are right to fear/dislike those uncomfortable changes and you have been fooled into thinking you are in the minority. Immigrants and globalists are stealing your jobs and destroying your most cherished beliefs and anyone who says otherwise is lying to you. The government and the media are the biggest liars and are your actual enemy"

47174. Ms. No - 4/29/2018 9:41:36 PM

Yeah - I wouldn't give a shit if he was just getting rich off his position, but the damage that he has done and continues to do to our faith in the democratic process and foundational federal institutions may never be undone. Certainly, he's shit all over the dignity of the Executive Office.

Maybe when he leaves office this administration will just be treated as some fever-dream anomaly, but I'm not holding my breath.

47175. arkymalarky - 6/6/2018 3:16:50 AM

I don't think the storm is going to hold off until November, but if you get a chance get back in here Msno, I'd love to see how the primaries look from your angle in California fixin to check dailykos again to see if they have any read on anything

47176. Ms. No - 6/6/2018 5:02:55 PM

I just hope it comes.

47177. arkymalarky - 6/6/2018 10:02:59 PM

Since the Cohen Raid I have no doubt. And this is obviously so much bigger and deeper and darker than anybody realized. Following the money in this Scandal is going to lead to no telling where no telling who and no telling what. But I Bet Mueller already knows a lot of it.

47178. Ms. No - 6/11/2018 4:08:20 PM

I just have to hope and vote.

47179. winstonsmith - 6/16/2018 1:13:22 AM

"Hope and vote"

Pretty much where I'm at.

In some ways, a damaged Trump contained by a Democrat majority until 2020 may be the best outcome possible.
