721. CalGal - 12/11/1999 4:44:17 AM BobbyJ,
Thanks, but actually, I was very lucky. The car windows were smashed, but the alarm apparently did some good. They not only didn't lift the stereo (in fact, it's one of those that's tough to steal easily), but they didn't have time to grab the CD case or the CD player that was in the car (Spawn will occasionally bring his own tunes and hook up his headphones to spare himself the agony of Mom's music).
This is only the second time in my life I've had any breakins--the other incident was also a car breakin. That time they lifted my cellphone, my briefcase, and a couple hundred dollars worth of CDs.
The main problem was I had to drive home from the City with an open window, and while 45 degrees might not seem all that cold to you, I was a tad numb by the time I got home.
But I'd had a spectacular dinner before discovering the theft. That, and my luck in not losing anything, has kept me pretty copacetic about the incident. 722. CalGal - 12/11/1999 4:45:40 AM Sigh. The breakin, not the theft. Duh. They kept on calling it a theft while I was talking to the insurance companies, and I kept correcting them--no, nothing was stolen (meaning I didn't have to report it to the police). And now here I'm doing it. 723. ee - 12/11/1999 5:11:44 AM we're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack 724. Jenerator - 12/12/1999 7:24:09 PM Is anyone else having any technical problems with their email accounts? I've sent several the last few days and they haven't arrived. I also received an error message from my school account saying that the time had expired and that the email hadn't been sent yet. I was just wondering if the problem is over here or if it's internal with yahoo and microsoft. 725. CalGal - 12/16/1999 3:46:52 PM testing 726. CalGal - 12/16/1999 5:44:11 PM testing

Do you have Win 95? Go to Start, select Programs, then Accessories, and Character Map.
If you can't get that far, tell me where the progression ended. 728. JudithAtHome - 12/27/1999 6:25:53 AM Okay, I found it but I don't see how that is faster or easier than hitting Alt plus 4 #s and continuing on with my sentence. 729. CalGal - 12/27/1999 6:39:28 AM I didn't say it was faster and easier, you power user. But it sure beats the hell out of remembering all the combinations. 730. JudithAtHome - 12/27/1999 6:42:08 AM That's why I have a little cheat sheet taped to the inside of the desk door next to my computer. :-) 731. CalGal - 12/27/1999 6:47:58 AM Ah, cheat sheets. And then it disappears. 732. EricCartman - 12/27/1999 10:27:19 AM Judith:
Alt+164=ñ
Alt+165=Ñ
733. CalGal - 12/27/1999 10:31:43 AM Heavens. Judith, if you didn't realize that the Alt combo was right there on the Character Map, then you must think I'm a dreadfully rude person.

I'll thank you manaña! :-) 735. KuligintheHooligan - 12/28/1999 9:10:30 PM Then I thought to myself, "Why not post in every thread?" 736. dusty - 12/31/1999 1:47:14 AM "Are we allowed to run over people?'' |

I spent all the time after the new year reached here sending electronic greetings to all my family's members. Then, I saw your 2000 New Year message and liked it so much that I sent it to them also. Too late I realized that maybe I should have asked your permission to do so. 739. dusty - 12/31/1999 9:19:08 PM It's quite
I cannot take credit for the creation—at best, I can take credit for typing "animated gifs" into a search engine and following links.
Here: Animation Factory is a place with quite a few clever gifs, many free for the use. They have other for sale . 740. dusty - 1/1/2000 12:57:34 AM Merge-Matic Books and Movies - The Mote ContestTitle | Description | Author | The Maltese Falconer | Cheever pens another winner about privileged Connecticut suburbanites only this time, the highjinks on the cocktail circuit send the protaganist toableak prison on the isle of Malta. | JudithAtHome | The Hunchback of Notre Damn Yankees | A man with a great physical deformity tries out for a baseball team, gets a job as catcher, and makes the play that wins the World Series, then breaks into the song "Whatever Quasi wants, Quasi gets... | CharlieL | Travels with my Auntie Mame | Graham Greene wonders how Carol Channing became a member of his family. | CharlieL | The House of Seven Hedda Gablers | An intriguing tale of a person with multiple personality disorder, 100 years before Sybil. | CharlieL | The Treasure Island of the Sierra Madre | We don't need no stinking beaches... | CharlieL |
