7597. thoughtful - 3/14/2012 3:12:23 AM Fingers crossed for you. The waiting is not fun. 7598. judithathome - 3/14/2012 4:02:57 PM Well, I guess it's not bad enough to warrant any sense of urgency....the doctor's office called this morning and told me to come in Monday.
7599. thoughtful - 3/15/2012 12:38:25 AM Hang tough. 7600. judithathome - 3/20/2012 2:30:48 PM My doc is setting up an appointment for a needle biopsy...well, his snotty scheduling clerk is. 7601. thoughtful - 3/20/2012 2:56:44 PM Finally...let's hope it gets done soon!
I had to have a needle biopsy on my thyroid and I was so delighted when the doc did it right there in the office as part of the appointment...no waiting and I got an answer right away. I was most thankful for that. 7602. arkymalarky - 3/20/2012 3:59:36 PM I was telling Judith the other day that it works that way here, rural as we are. My SIL had breast cancer in her 30s and they pulled her aside when she had her mammo and did the follow up right then. She knew her diagnosis before she left. Whenever I had cysts I still got the mammo info by mail, but always got sonogram results right then. 7603. judithathome - 3/21/2012 10:50:16 PM Well, no surprise to me that Christina, my nemsis at the doctor's office, has yet to contact me about the needle biopsy.
This woman has taken a dislike to me and as an example, yesterday after the doc did a surgical process on the cyst on Keoni's back and told us as we left the area to have Christina schedule a follow-up for next Monday for K and schedule the biopsy for me, with her standing right there in the hallway, she turned and left the area and after 5 miutes standing at her "window" in the hallway, another office clerk asked if we wanted her to schedule...the two other office people and the doctor's nurse were muttering about the fact that Christina had just up ad left the office...and the building.
7604. thoughtful - 3/21/2012 11:35:42 PM Uh oh! Hubby just showed me an article about Choffy. A heart healthy brew like coffee of cocoa. Sounds yummy!

7605. judithathome - 3/22/2012 12:44:32 AM Wow...it OUGHT to be good at that price! 7606. judithathome - 3/29/2012 9:54:35 PM FINALLY, Christina called this morning and I have an appointment on April 4th with a lady doctor who will do the needle biopsy. 7607. arkymalarky - 3/29/2012 10:28:38 PM Hope all goes well. 7608. thoughtful - 3/31/2012 2:10:29 AM Fingers crossed for you, j@ h 7609. judithathome - 3/31/2012 8:24:35 PM Thanks, guys!
It has just occured to me that the appointment is with a surgeon...my last one was done by a tech at the radiology lab.
Hmmmm....I'm sure it's just an insurance thing but still.... 7610. concerned - 4/3/2012 8:31:10 PM Good luck JAH, and hope the results are the best possible.
Btw, I just finished an (old) book written during WWII about the Secret Service during the presidencies of Wilson to FDR.
I wasn't really aware of this, but Wilson suffered two strokes while in office and Harding basically dropped dead of the same while still in his first term. This gave me pause, since they were both about my age now, and, while my job can't compare in stress to that of POTUS, it still is pretty high stress and I have hypertension. So I am trying to figure out ways to lower my stress. 7611. arkymalarky - 4/3/2012 8:34:06 PM That's such a challenge. My job isn't high stress, but I've been very stressed off and on and it's hard to control. Even when you think you are controlling it. 7612. thoughtful - 4/3/2012 8:53:46 PM Concerned, would you like it if I could offer you something that would reduce weight, blood pressure, boost your immune system, lower your risk of depression and anxiety, lower your stress levels, improve your ability to cope with pain, increase your ability to focus, raise your creativity and make you more empathetic and compassionate that is free, and no side effects, no prescription necessary? 7613. vonKreedon - 4/3/2012 9:10:30 PM Meditation? 7614. arkymalarky - 4/3/2012 9:30:06 PM It works but I've had mixed results depending on the circummstances. It's great for daily stresses if you're disciplined about it like exercise. The best thing I did *before* and during working on National Board was see a counselor. If I have anything major coming up, planned or unplanned, I'll definitely do that again. 7615. judithathome - 4/3/2012 10:21:13 PM Meditation is impossible for me because as soon as they say "clear your mind and focus on nothing", I'm out...I cannot clear my mind...I cannot stop "hearing" every conversation going on around me...I can't "not" hear other stuff. (For instance, while I'm writing this, I'm listening to the Alex Wagner show and following Ed Rendell and Rachel Maddow talking about the Bush adminstration and the Iraq war....)
When I was in therapy with a psychoanalyst, he was amazed that I couldn't focus on "nothing."..it was an alien concept to me. I hear everything around me. 7616. vonKreedon - 4/3/2012 11:09:04 PM The key is to start by listening to your breath. Concentrate on breathing perfectly and tune everything out but the experience of your breath. It helps to turn off the TV/Radio/Music.
