Sorry it's cancergrace.org

They helped me a lot when I was dealing with mom's cancer.

Hang in in there, Judith!

My surgery is scheduled for May 3...day before my birthday.

At least it will be easy to remember when filling out forms in future!

7678. arkymalarky - 4/24/2012 12:10:51 AM

Jim's birthday! Not as long a wait for the surgery as it was for the results!

7679. judithathome - 4/24/2012 6:41:26 PM

Ha! You're right...Jim's birthday...please tell Jim and Ronnie and tell them I said hey...

7680. arkymalarky - 4/25/2012 1:04:45 AM

I will!

Lose more weight by dieting just 2 days a week and reduce your risk of breast cancer to boot.

2 days a week

7682. judithathome - 4/30/2012 6:30:50 PM

Well, I can try half that, anyhow! ;-)

I'm starting a healthful regimin today to boost my healing capabilities...today and tomorrow, I'll be having nothing but this drink I concocted from veggies...I put spinach, tomatoes, celery, onions, carrots, red-yellow-green peppers, and seaweed into my VitaMixer and whipped it into a smoothie. It's actually very tasty though it looks disgusting.

Will also have one fresh fruit smoothie as a treat each day.

Nice Judith. Taking care of yourself should return big dividends as you heal. Continuing to think good thoughts for you every day.

7685. thoughtful - 5/2/2012 2:14:20 AM

Excellent. Make sure you eat veggies with anti carcinogenic properties like broccoli.

We love you Judith! Big hugs and good vibes from your extended Arkansas family!

My surgery was cancelled yesterday because the test for the needle location (?) turned up something that should have been discovered on the first mammogram I had done that showed the tumor and which set this whole "surgery" thing in motion...anyhow, the upshot is, there are "calc" areas that had to be biopsied yesterday and I am waiting to hear from the docotor if they are benign or not.

The results of THIS test will decide if I need a complete mastecomy or just the tumor removal. If they hadn't seen that yesterday, and it wasn't benign, I could have had to go back for ANOTHER surgery later on.

I was already prepped for surgery with an IV and everything...now this means I have to have ALL those other tests that I had this week RE-DONE for the newly scheduled surgery.

I was mentally in a good place and this really upset me...the other lab was very nasty about releasing my film and practilly demanded I pick their film up in person...my doctor got on the phone and chewed them out...she told them I was in pre-op already and that they needed to send those over ASAP...which they finally did. She said the lab wanted me to retrieve them in person because there would be a charge if the patient asked for them...

So now I'm waiting for the results of yesterday's biopsy...which hurt like hell...and need to re-calibrate my brain for a possible complete mastectomy.

One good thing came out of this: I now know that the stuff I packed for the hospital was the right stuff to bring. Ha!

7688. vonKreedon - 5/4/2012 6:21:25 PM

Oh, I'm so sorry Judith. You were in pre-op, had they given you the pre-op sedative before you got word of this new development? I hope so, unless of course you don't like the pre-op drugs in which case I hope not.

7689. judithathome - 5/4/2012 6:32:04 PM

No, damn it...they were just about to and had already put the tube in...

I might have benefitted from the drugs!

7690. judithathome - 5/4/2012 6:33:14 PM

I had stayed up all night because I had to be there at 5am....so I REALLY was looking forward to them!

7691. thoughtful - 5/4/2012 10:51:10 PM

Oh I'm so sorry, but better to get it done...whatever "it" is...once and not have to go back or not be sure they got it all.

Just talked to a gf who had breast cancer recur after 10 years and they gave her a mastectomy. Now she's finishing up her 7th week of radiation. She is extremely positive and optimistic...which is a good thing as her husband has been dx'd with bladder cancer and he goes for surgery just as she's recovering from her last radiation.

Yowzah!

Try to keep on as even keel as possible, dear J@h, as stress does nothing positive to affect the outcome. This is a ride, you may not want to take, but you have no choice...accept it and go with it. It will soon pass and you'll be back to your old self, shaking your head at what an awful episode it was, but glad you got through it.

Strength, courage, comfort and caring coming your way.

7692. arkymalarky - 5/4/2012 11:43:59 PM

Aw Judith! Hopefully they'll get all the info back soonest and you'll be on the other side of your surgery ASAP!

7693. wabbit - 5/6/2012 1:35:04 AM

What t'ful and Arky said, and hoping for benign!

7694. judithathome - 5/9/2012 10:07:40 PM

Surgeon just called and my surgery will be one week from today...full mastectomy.

No radiation!
