Hashke,

I gave you the exact code in Technical, except you need to remove the spaces after the angle brackets (the less than and greater than signs).

< img src="http://www.anekdotov.net/pic/mikola/mik405.gif" >

img means image
src means source
"http....gif" is the ACTUAL PICTURE you want to post. Not the HTML page. It has to be the image.

Go here. See how the only thing on the page is the picture? Look at the URL--see how it ends in .gif? (it could also end in jpg)

This is the only type of URL that you can link with the img tag.

hashke,

I'm not sure you did wrong. It looks like you posted the contents of the web page, but I'm not sure how you selected it.

Assuming you have that page open in a separate page, try right-clicking on the picture (make sure you click in the pciture, not just someowhere on the page). This will bring up a dialong box, with the word "properties" at the bottom.

Click on properties.

This should open up a larger box with the word "Address" halfway down. To the right of the word should appear:

http://www.anekdotov.net/pic/mikola/mik405.gif

With me so far?

CG has provided the rest—holler if you still have questions.

CalGal and Dusty:

Wow, how I appreciate your great help. I have to leave for a bit. Be back later and try it again.

1022. SnowOwl - 2/5/2000 9:55:19 AM

Good lord, what happened then? Some computer glitch. Sorry about the repeated messages.

1023. SnowOwl - 2/5/2000 10:02:48 AM

Haha Calgal. I was trying to introduce a friend, but she seems to have vanished into the ether somewhere.

1024. CalGal - 2/5/2000 10:08:20 AM

Well, I'm off for the evening but I hope your friend makes it.

Hi, Snowowl's friend?

1025. CalGal - 2/5/2000 10:09:03 AM

Whoops. Try again.

Hi, SnowOwl's friend!

1026. Absensia - 2/5/2000 10:17:00 AM

Hi! How's everyone? I got your message,Snow Owl..I think. Maybe you should repeat it!! LOL

1027. Absensia - 2/5/2000 10:17:54 AM

This looks great. I need to practice HTML. Been checking the site out...very nice.

1028. SnowOwl - 2/5/2000 10:19:53 AM

Interesting name, Absensia. Does this denote your current state of mind?

1029. SnowOwl - 2/5/2000 10:21:16 AM

I would need to practise HTML should I ever post anything meaningful. But since I only answer quizzes and discuss the weather there's not much point.

1030. SnowOwl - 2/5/2000 10:22:49 AM

Check it out now and again, Abs. This is an international community, so there are people on at a number of different times.

1031. Absensia - 2/5/2000 10:23:26 AM

My current state of mind, inter alia! Those classes require everything to be uploaded in HTML and I think it's time for some flashing comments on the site...get their attention!!
