Taken by surprise

10121. Magoseph - 7/1/2004 4:52:11 PM

Good morning, Mac, good morning, Pelle!

10122. Macnas - 7/1/2004 4:54:33 PM

Nice view, hello Mago.

10123. PelleNilsson - 7/1/2004 5:05:34 PM

Good morning. Mago. You are keeping strange times.

10124. Macnas - 7/1/2004 7:50:25 PM

Was the Mote down? or was it just me?

10125. alistairConnor - 7/1/2004 7:59:58 PM

For me too. Maybe it was just us Euros.

10126. Macnas - 7/1/2004 8:04:00 PM

I'm drawing piping isometrics, haven’t done it in ages, so it's kind of diverting.

Or maybe I'm delirious due to lack of sleep.

Our little village is being visited by a plague (or flock, or coven, or whatever) of high school girls from New Zealand. A friend of ours, who teaches French at a posh high school in Auckland, has brought a dozen from her class to the Old Continent, and my wife has arranged host families in our area.

These are kids from Auckland's upper-crust WASP private religious school; and they've just had several days in Paris. But I'm willing to bet that the culture shock will be quite minor, global youth culture being what it is. Interesting to observe...

10128. Macnas - 7/1/2004 8:47:32 PM

I think a "gaggle" might be a suitable collective term, or, seeing as they're WASP's, maybe a "swarm".

Mac and AC,

Not just you Euros, just that you folks are usually the only ones around in the wee morning hours. We're going through a spate of thunderstorms here, had a big one at 4-5am that knocked the power out for a bit. We may have another one move through this afternoon.

10130. Macnas - 7/1/2004 9:38:36 PM

As always wabbit, we are in your debt for keeping this place open.

10131. Magoseph - 7/1/2004 11:31:37 PM

Old house, old tiles, new floor.10132. Macnas - 7/2/2004 12:15:12 AM

Is that vinyl or linoleum?

10133. Magoseph - 7/2/2004 12:36:29 AM

Here, Mac

The tiles were old, the kitchen needs to be remodeled entirely and made bigger by knocking out a couple of walls. This new floor will do for now, until and if ever more is to be done in the place.

10134. Macnas - 7/2/2004 12:51:27 AM

And its off home with me.

Have a good weekend and a better 4th of July all you 'Muricuns out there.

10135. Magoseph - 7/2/2004 12:53:36 AM

Thanks, Mac, you too, Mac!

10136. PelleNilsson - 7/2/2004 12:56:23 AM

Laminate is nice and very popular in areas with heavy usage but an old-fashioned oiled wood floor will only grow nicer with age.

10137. PelleNilsson - 7/2/2004 12:57:32 AM

Those drawings, Macnas, are you doing them by hand?

10138. Magoseph - 7/2/2004 6:55:52 AM

...an old-fashioned oiled wood floor will only grow nicer with age.

Yes, it does grow nicer with age, as evidenced by the wood floors in the rest of this house, circa 1927.

10139. judithathome - 7/2/2004 8:14:55 AM

Magos, I think I told you about my new cane and the unusual handle. It's made of brass and after a few days use, my hand started to turn green. So Keoni went to Lowe's and brought back a can of spray-on acrylic, satin finish, and applied two coats of it on the handle. No more green hand!
