I haven't yet put together the chairs I got at Ikea ---- they take up less space unassembled.

for no obvious reason, I damn near pissed myself over this remark.

J,

I'm in a front/back duplex --- my half is the front part. It's circa 1950's so it's more like a house than an apartment.

10458. Ms. No - 7/20/2004 6:53:40 AM

AC,

It's funny to me too. Until I get more stuff unpacked and boxes thrown out, though, floor space is at a premium so I haven't put them together yet. Right now they're just two slim boxes that lean up against the wall out of the way. They won't be large chairs when assembled --- just dining table size, but I'm operating on the premise that it's easier and less unwieldy to store a closed umbrella than an open one....

...unless I suspend them from the ceiling.

10459. Magoseph - 7/20/2004 8:31:08 AM

That last sentence just got me but good, as my hairdresser would say.

10460. judithathome - 7/20/2004 8:52:36 AM

So how does your hair look, Magos?

10461. Macnas - 7/20/2004 4:13:37 PM

You know, I'm trying, but I cannot recall what colour our bedroom is.

10462. Macnas - 7/20/2004 5:49:31 PM

No, still hasn't come to me.

10463. alistairconnor - 7/20/2004 6:21:57 PM

Come on pop psychologists... what does this tell us about the man's sex life?

... when it comes to bedtime, he's colour blind?

10464. Macnas - 7/20/2004 7:34:46 PM

Maybe I've got more to concentrate on in my bedroom than the colour of the walls...

10465. alistairconnor - 7/20/2004 9:09:13 PM

Yes I imagine you're the sort of fellow who can remember the colour of his wife's eyes.

10466. Macnas - 7/20/2004 9:15:20 PM

Well, it helps that they're the same colour as mine.

10467. Magoseph - 7/21/2004 12:06:40 AM

The haircut is great, Juds, thanks, and the DIL is happy too. I let the color grow out since I saw you and now, amazingly, people comment how nice my real color is. We saw the lake’s mansions from the mail excursion boat, the best one to take we were told. Later we went to Popeye's and had far too expensive drinks and foods. Stuffed and filled with hilarity, we walked around town in order to sober up. We met Jacqueline and her partner in the best furniture store I have seen so far around here. We had a lively conversation in French. They sent their helper to Starbucks for us. My companion put a down payment on a love seat that is to be made with her precise specifications. Overall, it was a fun day, even if my legs this morning are hurting; I could barely get out of bed. Not only am I a hopeless rube nowadays, but I am practically out-of-commission if I venture out of my lair.

Hello,Mac, Ali!

10468. Macnas - 7/21/2004 12:12:05 AM

Hello Mago.

10469. angel-five - 7/21/2004 2:08:44 AM

You know, I'm trying, but I cannot recall what colour our bedroom is.

It's like the old joke -- what's the difference between what a hooker, a mistress and a wife says in bed?

The hooker says 'Faster, faster!'

The mistress says 'Slower! Slower!'

The wife says, 'Beige. I think I'll paint the ceiling beige.'

Bill Mahr doesn't understand the fuss about same sex marriages. What the bid deal, he says? You get married and then, you have the same sex every night.

10471. judithathome - 7/21/2004 3:39:18 AM

Magos, I just posted about my friend's backyard paradise over in Good Life.

10472. Jenerator - 7/21/2004 6:35:42 AM

Pelle,

I saw people take home leftovers in England, France, Germany, Holland and Belgium...

10473. judithathome - 7/21/2004 6:37:58 AM

Were they Americans? ;-)

10474. arkymalarky - 7/21/2004 9:05:52 AM

We took leftovers back to the hotel in Belgium--and they sent us with real plates, which we walked over and returned before we left the hotel. So I assume they're not accustomed to requests to take out leftovers.

I'm too pooped to peep. Bob and I shopped all day. He did really well until the Wal-Mart leg at the end of the journey, at which point he became somewhat like a grumpy toddler who missed a nap. He and I very rarely go there any more, but we both had to pick up some things and Hot Springs doesn't have a Target. It's not worth shopping in Little Rock just to avoid a Wal-Mart. At least I didn't think so before today.

10475. judithathome - 7/21/2004 11:15:08 PM

Arky, let me know if you want anything from here...we can bring whatever you want! (chocolate mint straws, for example.)
