Don't encourage her, dusty. You may be unleashing a monster.

1060. Absensia - 2/5/2000 10:47:13 AM

oops, it didn't blink...hey, you people are great..and patient!

1061. Absensia - 2/5/2000 10:48:12 AM

Oh, good idea, thanks Dusty.

1062. joezan - 2/5/2000 10:50:17 AM

BLINK?

1063. dusty - 2/5/2000 10:51:37 AM

Absensia

Just so you know, the term "toys" was coined in our first few days—it refers to the use of any HTML that changes the font look. When people turn an attribute on and fail to turn it off, we say that they forgot to put their toys away. Now abbreviated as "toys?"

1064. Absensia - 2/5/2000 10:52:00 AM

Hahah..very good Joezan..what's the code for blink..it's obviously not "b"..duh.

1065. Absensia - 2/5/2000 10:53:10 AM

B = Bold Thanks re "toys." Gotcha!

1066. joezan - 2/5/2000 10:53:22 AM

< blink > < /blink >, minus the spaces.

1067. dusty - 2/5/2000 10:54:07 AM

Absensia

I was also wondering what you meant by "blink". If you were trying to use the attribute to make the text blink, please be aware that Netscape supports it but not IE (or is it the other way around?), and we have a few uptight people who think blinking text is obnoxious.

1068. dusty - 2/5/2000 10:55:20 AM

Absensia

I was going to point out that I deliberately didn't offer the command for blink, but I see Joe is being oh so helpful :)

1069. joezan - 2/5/2000 10:55:41 AM

Well, let them eat IE, I say!

1070. Absensia - 2/5/2000 10:55:59 AM

blink is the code for blink? nawww..lol..Okay, won't use it, Dusty...Thanks Joezan. Hmm, that may be why my students were less that impressed when I posed a red, blinking message last quarter. IE may have crashed...oh dear...such a shame.

1071. Absensia - 2/5/2000 10:57:26 AM

Netscape supports it!!! The HTML information is excellent.
I need a handy source to check out before I "show off"

1072. dusty - 2/5/2000 10:58:53 AM

Are you a teacher? We have a number of excellent teachers in our group.

1073. Absensia - 2/5/2000 10:59:53 AM

Great! Yes I am...for a local college..and am teaching three of the courses online this quarter. Did two per quarter in the past. Three classes are a killer!

Abs:

If you'd like to check out some really neat html tricks, visit psychprof's sports thread.

It takes awhile to load sometimes, but he's got some excellent effects.

You can source the page to see his code.

1075. Absensia - 2/5/2000 11:02:09 AM

Thanks, I will. I did source this page to look for blink, but didn't see it. But that is, I think, OPERATOR error!

1076. dusty - 2/5/2000 11:03:22 AM

Absensia

I think most of our teachers teach at the high school level, but psychprof, well, you can guess.

1077. SnowOwl - 2/5/2000 11:05:00 AM

Abs,

You mean you're not showing off right now?

1078. Absensia - 2/5/2000 11:05:23 AM

Yep, there is a hint there!
