10622. judithathome - 8/2/2004 11:39:54 PM I was so whipped yesterday after we got home that I didn't check the computer, the mail that had piled up, or my phone messages.
I want to echo Arky's post about having an absolutely fantastic time...we enjoyed the entire time there. Great hosts, great friends, wonderful food, fantastic conversation, and would you believe, Arky can sing like a rock and roll PRO! She has a wonderfully rich voice and perfect pitch! The music all weekend was fabulous.
It was the event of the year...y'all should seriously consider coming next year. Seriously!
And it just occured to me that we didn't watch one minute of TV the entire time. And didn't miss it at all. No news, no politics, no nothing. It was great. 10623. wabbit - 8/2/2004 11:57:14 PM Sounds like y'all had too much fun -- good for you!
Congratulations SnowOwl! 10624. wonkers2 - 8/3/2004 12:08:08 AM The Cap'n, wonkers and the missus are off to Michigan City, Indiana to watch our little wonker sail in the Thistle Nationals. Back on Saturday or Sunday. Ta-ta. 10625. alistairConnor - 8/3/2004 12:09:38 AM Five o'clock, and it's fair hosing down.
It's been hot as hell, and threatening storms for a couple of days. I think I'll hang around at work a while longer, wait for the air to clear. 10626. alistairConnor - 8/3/2004 12:10:25 AM Good luck to the sailor and the watchers, W! 10627. Absensia - 8/3/2004 12:16:01 AM Woo hoo! Temperatures are supposed to not hit 70F today and there is a chance of rain! Finally! 10628. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 8/3/2004 1:48:56 AM This about wraps it up for the New England area . . .
Climate change is transforming NE climate into Georgia's.
Happy sails, Wonk! 10629. robertjayb - 8/3/2004 2:33:52 AM Nothing like a cool, smooth pipe to sooth your belly. 10630. Macnas - 8/3/2004 3:47:56 AM I'm at work, again.
And I detest it! My stupid twat of a boss has shagged off for himself, as he has sails to fit or some such knobbery (he's just back from 2 weeks afloat don't you know), and handed me his resulting backlog.
The fucker made sure to leave it in my in-tray while I was out on site, and has a couple of high-end jobs in there that have the eye of the engineering director, so I can't just dump it back on his desk as I would dearly love to.
How I would love to torpedo his yacht in bad weather off Fastnet.
10631. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 8/3/2004 4:16:27 AM All you need is a battery-powered drill, Mac. };^/ 10632. Macnas - 8/3/2004 4:36:08 AM Wiz
I want to make it total, complete, and entertainingly spectacular. So torpedos away! 10633. wabbit - 8/3/2004 4:45:27 AM Movie recommendation for Macnas: A Shock to the System 10634. wabbit - 8/3/2004 4:47:08 AM Wiz, I have a squizz that lays just like that across the top of the tall wood fence behind the apartment, with his chin resting on the post. He always moves before I can get a photo of him. Then he comes to the door to tease the cats. 10635. Macnas - 8/3/2004 4:55:02 AM I saw that flick wabbit, a good show.
I have no career plans or ambitions, I have a job, and as long as me and the missus can provide for ourselves and our care, that is all we want.
But I hate being taken for a fool by the likes of my boss, a bona fide snob and a lazy to boot.
I've had enough, I'm off home, see yez tomorrow. 10636. wabbit - 8/3/2004 4:59:21 AM Yes, Mac, but it's nice to dream.
Good evening to you! 10637. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 8/3/2004 6:02:33 AM I have one too, wabb and he lays on a limb just below our squirrel-proof feeder just to intimidate the shy birds. 10638. arkymalarky - 8/3/2004 7:03:29 AM (blush) Thanks Judith!
Congrats to Snowowl, and to Abs on the better weather. It finally got hot today, which I can't complain about since the weather was good for the party and it's been an unusually cool summer.
Have fun Wonk!
Wiz, your beautiful package arrived just in time to share with some artistic guests who were stunned by them. I'm not artistic, but I was stunned too. Really fine.
10639. arkymalarky - 8/3/2004 7:04:30 AM Mac,
I feel for you. If you can work the finished projects to your advantage and his disadvantage somehow, that might take a bit of the edge off having the work dumped on you. Good luck. 10640. arkymalarky - 8/3/2004 7:07:50 AM Oh, and I meant to tell you, Judith, that I ended up having a political meeting at the capitol today, so it's back to the grindstone on that, I guess, but I really enjoyed it. The meeting was very productive and helpful. I'm hoping it was an example of what the entire year will be like. 10641. Macnas - 8/3/2004 5:08:41 PM Arky
If I had a machiavellian mindset, perhaps I could turn things to my advantage, but I don't.
Anyways, I feel much better this morning having sorted out the very most of that stuff yesterday, and I have a clear run at the day, as we say here.
