That can happen after posting a message if you hit the refresh button on your browser window, instead of the VCR buttons. 1103. hashke - 2/5/2000 12:54:33 PM Dusty:
There are some questions in Tech which probably should be here.
Any solutions?
Instead of homepage I get the elephant pic with no toolbars to cancel.
Quoi faire?
I want to post pics but now get no urls in post box after following procedures. Elephant must be somehow blocking operations, no? 1104. hashke - 2/5/2000 12:55:16 PM Dusty:
Are you the resident physician on call this eve? 1105. Lucky - 2/6/2000 8:11:38 AM Hello. I have tried coming to the Mote a couple of times with strange results. Here's a new try. I don't know anyone here, perhaps, but have read some interesting stuff. Unsure of how to continue, I'll wait and see if a couple of posters that drew me into an imbroglio last time jump on me again before trying to post further. 1106. CalGal - 2/6/2000 8:14:35 AM Lucky,
Welcome back! And remember, anyone who jumps on you, jump 'em back. 1107. CalGal - 2/6/2000 8:17:04 AM And Absensia, I see you had yourself a fine old time last night! Welcome to you, too. 1108. dusty - 2/6/2000 8:42:35 AM hashke
I saw a reference to your problem, but I also saw attempts at help, and I had hoped these were successful.
I assume not.
I will be happy to try to help, although I was just glancing in before dinner. I will be back in about an hour.
If someone else can help in the meantime, great, if not I'll see what I can do.
A warning in advance - my role as thread host is more based on willingness to help than on any actual expertise.
1109. dusty - 2/6/2000 8:43:00 AM Welcome back Lucky 1110. Lucky - 2/6/2000 8:49:41 AM Thanks, CalGal and Dusty. Hello! 1111. ScottLoar - 2/6/2000 9:08:53 AM Lucky, where's your poetry? You always give a good beginning, promising more then... the end comes much too soon. 1112. Lucky - 2/6/2000 9:16:23 AM Heh. The story of my life, I guess. Howdy, Scott. 1113. dusty - 2/6/2000 10:25:17 AM hashke
When I looked at the help that others were trying to give you, they seemed to be talking about wallpaper, which refers to the picture on the screen when you boot up.
But you are referring to homepage, which is the location in the window of a browser when you first fire it up.
I'el assume you mean the second, but you can clarify if my assumption is wrong.
If I am right I need to know whether you are running IE or Netscape. (If something else, I can't help) 1114. dusty - 2/6/2000 10:31:09 AM I'll start by assuming IE.
If IE, look on the menu bar and click on Tools.
This brings up a menu, at the bottom is Internet Options. Click on it.
Usually, the panel shown is labeled General, if it isn't look for General and click on it.
At the top, is a Box labeled Home Page. I'm guessing you will recognize the url in the box as the elephant URL. Change it to whatever you like.
I just realized my instructions may be specific to IE 5.0
If you are running IE 4.0, the locations may be slightly different, but you may be able to follow them.
Now I'll look at Netscape, just in case that is what you have. 1115. dusty - 2/6/2000 10:38:39 AM
The following applies to Netscape 4.6 (although probably to other versions as well)
First thing you should do is go to the page you want to use as your home page (The reason will be clear later.)
On the top menu bar, look for Edit. Click on it, opening a menu.
At the bottom is Preferences. Click on it.
This will open up a box with a number of choices in a box along the left. One of those choices should be Navigator. Click on it.
Now you should see radio buttons giving you a choice as to how you startup screen will look. The choices are:
- Blank screen
- Home page
- Last Page visited
I selected Last Page Visited, but you want Home page. In the next section below it probably has the elephant url, but, in any event, you can type in the location you want for your home page, or easier, if you go there first, you can click on Use Current Page
Did this work, or am I misunderstanding your problem?1116. Dusty - 2/8/2000 12:19:58 AM Hashke - is your problem solved?
