They are supposed to be more scared of you than you are of them.

The problem with snakes (aside from many of the harmless ones, it seems) is that they're so hard to see. People around here get snakebit from picking berries and clearing fence rows and stuff like that. But it's still very rare.

Well, I think it's bath and bedtime for me.

Can't imagine what my dreams are going to be like. Heh.

Catch y'all later!

Arky -- Keep a pig in your garage.

11045. arkymalarky - 8/19/2004 12:26:08 PM

Hmmm. I already know where there's a pig in distress. I'll be like the old woman that swallowed the fly.

11046. Halo - 8/19/2004 12:26:17 PM

If it's so rare why is there are word just for it? There's no dogbit or horsebit (ok there is a horse bit but that's not the same and just confusing the issue).

11047. Magoseph - 8/19/2004 12:27:27 PM

Halo, welcome, when did you get here, today?

11048. Halo - 8/19/2004 12:28:44 PM

Today, a few days ago, last year, it's all relative.

(waiting on Bob to get off the phone)

Halo,

Because the fear of it is common.

"Don't play out in them weeds, you'll get snakebit!"

11050. Magoseph - 8/19/2004 12:30:38 PM

I hope that you stay a while anyway.

11051. Halo - 8/19/2004 12:33:31 PM

Is the past tense snakebited or snakebut?

11052. Halo - 8/19/2004 12:34:44 PM

I'll linger - if only because the time on the posts matches my real time for a change.

11053. angel-five - 8/19/2004 12:35:06 PM

Snakebitten. Or snakebit, in rural places.

11054. Magoseph - 8/19/2004 12:37:26 PM

Is the past tense snakebited or snakebut?

Snakebutted, that is if the snake bit you know where...

11055. The Summer Woman - 8/19/2004 2:21:56 PM

"snakebit" means the same thing as "in a slump"

11056. Macnas - 8/19/2004 4:30:41 PM

So copperheads are dangerous?

I'm getting rid of the Duracel right now.

11057. Magoseph - 8/19/2004 8:01:00 PM

I don't remember any summer here when we had to put the heat on at nigh in mid-August. We'll feel cheated if we don't have an Indian summer this fall.

Hello, Mac.

11058. Macnas - 8/19/2004 10:17:02 PM

Hello Mago.

11059. judithathome - 8/19/2004 11:03:00 PM

Mac, that battery humor was really funny!

11060. Ms. No - 8/19/2004 11:55:33 PM

Arky,

It's cats that like to get into your car. I had a Black Widow in mine once, too --- this was the old Rambler, not my current car.

I'm having one of those hugely coincidental moments because I found the Black Widow when a friend of mine was helping me push the Rambler somewhere. D was sitting inside the car for a minute and when he got out there was a Black Widow on his back which freaked me out but he was as calm as you please. At the time I didn't know that they weren't deadly poisonous to a grown man since I grew up with dire warnings about them.

Anyway, the weird thing is that I had a dream last night that I called this friend and had a whole conversation where he said nothing. I could tell he was there because I could hear him smoking at the other end of the line.

That's the extent of the coincidence --- had a dream about an old friend I haven't seen in years and then you have the Black Widow story that reminds me of mine in which this friend was involved.

Life's funny that way sometimes.

I never pictured Resonance as the type to sport a mullet. But then, what do I know.
