Wabbit,

Right, that's what I had in mind. Can you go ahead and change the title for me, please?

11968. wabbit - 11/6/2004 4:53:48 PM

Done.

Fraaaaaaank! Great to see you...and you and Seadate were willing "dusters" just like those kids who painted Tom Sawyer's fence! ;-)

Hey all!

Good to see you here, Tone! Hope you'll squeeze in a bit of time for us--and FRANK TOO!

Judith, you would love Old Washington. Lots of antebellum homes, buildings, antiques galore. We watched weaving, went to a blacksmith's shop, a printer, the weapons museum, dipped candles--all kinds of stuff. They have a Christmas event and this weekend is Civil War Days (what we did). The kids watched artillery, did a little infantry drill, learned how people got by in the South with no imports, etc. They also have the Jonquil festival in March.

Here they are: Old Washington Tour of Town

And their calendar of events: Calendar

I've been several times, but never when it was all open and we could look in the houses. I'd love to go to the Christmas evening. If you and Keoni would ever be interested in going, we'd love you to stay with us, even if we couldn't go. It's just about an hour from here.

They also have a great place nearby that I've never been able to find, but I've had one bar of their soap, and it's WONDERFUL: < a href="http://www.oldcolumbus.com/" target="new">Old Columbus We didn't have time or energy to look for it after the field trip yesterday.

Old Columbus

Sorry about that.

11972. judithathome - 11/6/2004 8:41:32 PM

That place looks fantastic...maybe we can come up there on a weekend when you have three days...a Monday holiday or time off for holidays. I didn't realize it was so close!

We went to a place in Canada when we lived in Maine that was like that...an Acadian village. It was a great day, walking around the village and seeing how people lived "back then". I'd love to see this one, too!

Hi, everyone!

Hi, Arky! Click the map for the report in your location.

11974. Magoseph - 11/6/2004 10:33:04 PM

Forget about this map-- I just realized it wasn't much after all.

11975. arkymalarky - 11/6/2004 11:45:43 PM

Hey Mags!

11976. arkymalarky - 11/6/2004 11:48:09 PM

That would be great, Judith. Don't know what our schedule is like wrt 3-day weekends but of course we have Thanksgiving and Christmas, and two-days are fine too. If you all wanted to come in spring and we're not on spring break during the Jonquil Festival I could take a personal day. The legislative session should surely be over then, too, and kids who'd been there said jonquils are everywhere and it's really beautiful.

This is a stolen picture

11978. ElliottRW - 11/7/2004 3:25:45 AM

Wabbit,

Thanks!

11979. ElliottRW - 11/7/2004 3:26:53 AM

Lovely picture, Magoseph.

I think if I showed it to my wife, I'd be changing daipers by Halloween.

11980. tonedef - 11/7/2004 9:50:32 AM

Just read wabbit's "What Are We" page for the first time, and took the tests.

And, looking at my political scores, it occurred to me.

There's a name for north americans who score in the left-libertarian quadarant:

Canadians.

11981. judithathome - 11/7/2004 5:28:29 PM

Ha!

11982. judithathome - 11/7/2004 5:31:21 PM

Arky, spring sounds fine for us...we will have guests here til after Thanksgiving and will probably be beat all through Christmas. Since I missed all the parties last year, I am for sure going to make them THIS one!

Seeing the flowers in bloom in the spring suits me to a tee! We'll probably be out of honey by then, too. ;-) Keoni boosted the economy of Hope with his honey purchases.

11983. arkymalarky - 11/7/2004 6:37:13 PM

Wow, that sounds wonderful! I'll look really forward to that. I've never been to the Jonquil Festival.

11984. judithathome - 11/8/2004 6:38:09 AM

Be sure to let us know the dates...I'd love to see fields of flowers!

11985. Magoseph - 11/8/2004 3:46:39 PM

Good morning, I'm alone today--Flexy is in the hospital undergoing tests that will determine if he can be operated on soon. After realizing that his patient was up in years, the surgeon demanded that he checked in last night.

So, this is the time for me to organize his office desk and throw away much junk lying around in that room. Now, I'm walking to the village to check out the new coffee shop, that is supposedly the elite answer to the other two.

Hi, Mac and Ali!

11986. Macnas - 11/8/2004 4:15:50 PM

Don't tell Flexy you're rearranging his desk Mago, it might exacerbate matters!
