12140. Jenerator - 11/19/2004 1:14:40 AM I lucked out and found a pair of 700 thread count sheets (king size) at Tuesday Morning for only $60!!!! They were marked down from $550 - Donna Karan.
Magoseph,
Go for it - the bedding is lovely. Do you have a padded headboard as well? 12141. Absensia - 11/19/2004 1:55:48 AM Of course I like all of you. I've just been away.
Thread count is important. The higher the thread count the softer the sheets is true. Jen that is a steal. I try to get at least 400 thread count. That is a beautiful set, Mags. I'm with Ms. No, though. I use few if any decorative pillows, though the cats like them. But if you like it, go for it. 12142. Ms. No - 11/19/2004 2:16:14 AM I'm all about flannel or cotton jersey bed linens. 12143. Magoseph - 11/19/2004 2:34:12 AM I'm all about flannel or cotton jersey bed linens.
So am I, Ms. No, so you see that I have a problem here. I intend to go to Chicago and see the merchandise first-hand this Saturday. The bed set-up is silk and linen, so I have to see.
No, Jen, no padded headboard. This is the bed, not quite, but close to it--much older looking, of course.. The chest, the highboy, and the coiffeuse are lovely and graceful, walnut and mahogany, and brass handles made by a cabinetmaker 110 years as a wedding gift to a relative of my husband's family. There is a full-length mirror on a brass and walnut wood pedestal. The whole furniture is quite arresting. I am just just trying to adapt it to myself, so to speak-- put my indelible imprint to it, so it is mine, because it is now, you know.
12144. Magoseph - 11/19/2004 2:54:28 AM Abs, I won't use any decorative pillows--I couldn't bother having to put them on and take them off. Besides, I like a trim look about things around me.
Lately, I have given my sons prized possessions that for years were so precious to me. Now, I just want for once a luxurious bedroom and bathroom--and frankly, this is only because my mother sent me such beautiful robes, nightgowns, plush bath towels, still never used and in pristine condition. I feel somehow now that she is gone, I should make the effort to be more like she was.
12145. Absensia - 11/19/2004 3:11:03 AM That sounds wonderful, Mags. It's nice to feel a bit "luxe." 12146. judithathome - 11/19/2004 3:29:21 AM I finally converted Keoni to the "thread count" bandwagon with 500 thread count sheets.
Jen, your 700s sound great...I'd forgotten all about Tuesday Morning! And I am lucky because we have only a full sized bed, which sheets are usually cheaper than king size. I may check out Overstock.com, too.
I love new sheets! 12147. angel-five - 11/19/2004 4:07:21 AM I don't like jersey sheets. They feel nice and soft, but they also bunch up and stretch, and pill and so on.
Flannel sheets OTOH are wonderful, but can be a bit warm in the summertime. 12148. sakonige - 11/19/2004 6:02:17 AM I don't like flannel sheets. They cling to my nightgown and make it twist around me when I flip over. And I don't like over 300 thread count because they are too flimsy. I like pure white cotton 280, washed with a little bit of bleach and double rinsed. 12149. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 11/19/2004 6:07:40 AM Egyptian cotton! 12150. rdbrewer - 11/19/2004 6:12:19 AM Well, Wiz and I agree on something. 12151. Absensia - 11/19/2004 8:42:13 AM Egyptian cotto is the best. I find a high thread count holds up very well. I don't like flannel though. They turn "fuzzy" and get in my eyes. 12152. Macnas - 11/19/2004 10:57:32 AM So....blankets and such.....ahmm....well I'm not a'gin 'em I suppose.... 12153. Magoseph - 11/19/2004 12:19:19 PM Hi, Mac. Will you be hunting again this weekend? 12154. Macnas - 11/19/2004 1:02:54 PM Hello Mago.
I hope to, there has been a fall of woodcock, as they say, and I might get one or two for the pot if I can. 12155. Magoseph - 11/19/2004 3:17:36 PM Flexy just told me that this state is a breeding ground for the woodcocks, Mac, but he tells me too that they are not indigene to the area--I don't know why not, if they breed here. I must find out about these birds as soon as I determine what thread count I need for my bedsheets--first things first, as they say around here.
Have a nice weekend, Mac.
12156. Magoseph - 11/19/2004 3:21:57 PM Thank you to those who helped me with my bedroom's beautifying project. 12157. judithathome - 11/19/2004 3:36:02 PM I was browsing on Overstock.com and saw something almost obscene: sheets with a 1200 thread count! They were originally $900 and were selling for $189. 12158. wonkers2 - 11/19/2004 5:14:40 PM I'm off to Sacramento to a funeral and to Seattle to visit my son. See everyone after Thanksgiving. Have a nice one, all! 12159. Magoseph - 11/19/2004 5:35:03 PM Maybe too late to wish you a safe trip, Won, but check with us when you come back.
