I wish a very happy day for Mr. and Mrs. Wonkers...and the
Cap'n on their 35th wedding anniversary!

12351. PelleNilsson - 11/29/2004 5:19:02 PM

Tacky hair saloon names are clearly an international phenomenon. We have them here and I saw them in Germany when we last visited.

12352. alistairconnor - 11/29/2004 5:44:08 PM

We've got some beauties in France too. Often involving the English word "hair", but you have to pronounce it as if it were French for the pun to work. Truly awful. Can't think of any, I'll try to look out for some.

Come to think of it... I need a haircut.

Cap'n Dirty sez, "Tomorrer, w2, The Cap'n an the Missus'r celebratin' their 35th anniversary. Not bad fer a menage a trois!"

12354. PelleNilsson - 11/29/2004 5:56:37 PM

We got it wonk. Congratulations!

12355. Magoseph - 11/29/2004 5:59:58 PM

Oh, okay, Won, I'll be sure not to forget to wish yout a happy day tomorrow.

I wonder, would Ali take a shot at fixing this thread?

12356. Magoseph - 11/29/2004 6:00:51 PM

Oh, well, I just want to be just like someone we know.

12357. PelleNilsson - 11/29/2004 6:11:19 PM

It's Wiz's picture. It will go away if we post early and often.

12358. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 11/29/2004 6:52:41 PM

Sorry!

Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Wonkers – we're right behind you at 34 years . . . and when my wife gets asked what our secret is, she replies: "I'm a saint!" – which, I suspect, is what Mrs. Wonkers is as well!

12359. Ms. No - 11/29/2004 6:56:21 PM

My favorite salon name here in LA is "Oh My Nappy Hair!" near Little Ethiopia on Fairfax Ave.

Happy anniversary to the Wonkers!

Magos,

Yes, I was still in Dallas then. Just got back home yesterday. The closest Lifetime Fitness to me is in Arizona. I think I won't be driving out for that.

It was a good trip and a sad trip. Great to be with the family --- all 30+ of them --- and great to see old friends, but it was hard clearing out my grandmother's house. The worst of it came when I left there on Saturday for what I knew would be the last time ever in my life. They're putting the house up for sale and it'll be gone before I ever get back to Dallas again.

My folks live so far from that part of town that we'd have no reason to go over there if not for my Mamaw. So from now on when I visit I won't even be in the parts of Dallas that I know from my childhood. It's kind of jarring to thing about. I'll have to take field trips in future. ;->

12361. Ms. No - 11/29/2004 7:01:25 PM

Okay, we need just one more post to fix the margins.

12362. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 11/29/2004 8:04:15 PM

Allow me!

12363. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 11/29/2004 8:05:37 PM

Doesn't it depend on what your "post/page" setting is?

12364. Ms. No - 11/29/2004 8:27:10 PM

Yeah, actually it does. I think mine is set to 20.

12365. judithathome - 11/29/2004 8:44:33 PM

MsNo, it was great seeing you and your wonderful mom! Keoni was quite taken with her. We seriously want to take your mom and your step-dad to that restaurant one night and have them drop by our house on New Year's day if they are able.

MsNo is delightful host and superb cook!

12366. PelleNilsson - 11/29/2004 8:48:48 PM

Please provide intimate details of the cookery.

12367. Ms. No - 11/29/2004 8:53:28 PM

Jude,

I noticed a restaurant called Salerno's out on Long Prairie road headed from my folks place toward Grapevine Mills and wondered if it was related to Salerno's in Ft. Worth. Did your friend open a second restaurant?

12368. Ms. No - 11/29/2004 8:54:35 PM

-- and my folks would love to get together with you and Keoni. Cory was really bummed that he was so sick when you visited.

12369. judithathome - 11/29/2004 8:55:18 PM

She made an outstanding Gallette of beef, mushrooms, and onion...the crust was so flakey and light you could have blown on it and flakes would have separated. And a salad of mixed spring greens with crumbled feta and chopped pralined pecans and tossed with a tart raspberry vinaigrette...absolutely scrumptious. And raspberry sorbet with Prioline-type cookies for dessert.

Though the food was wonderful, the company was better. We had a great time.
