BANSKY?

14623. Magoseph - 4/15/2005 8:25:37 PM

This Bansky, Web?

14624. Jenerator - 4/15/2005 9:53:50 PM

Ms No,

Did you get the e-mail?

It's funny, isn't it?

14625. webfeet - 4/16/2005 12:28:08 AM

Whoops!

I was laughing really hard, Mags, but I don't know how to write that without making it appear retarded. I remember a time during the Age of Pseuder when it was cool to write just a dry ha ha! But, somehow, that isn't me.

That just brings back a memory, while I'm on the subject of styles, tics, that pseuder and Maria Gleason always had this way of writing Gee, so and so you're a real [fill in the blank] when they wanted to patronize you. They always began their sentences with Gee... where are they now?

AND where is Banksy? Who is none other than... the hilarious Marjoribanks!

Web, is the Age of Pseuder Slate's Fray? If it is, in those days I was a late comer to that site--a few months after I entered the Fray, the Mote was started. If I ever saw "Bansky or hahaha," I probably thought nothing of it. I talked mostly to Hashke then because he was the first to befriend me and for some time the only one.

14627. Magoseph - 4/16/2005 11:31:25 AM

Web, now that I think about how the Fray’s posters took notice that I was around, it was actually cmboyce who put me on the map. Hashke was friendly to me before that momentous time, but the others were rather…well, I have to think of the term I want to use here…

It was a pretty ferocious world, Mago. Dog eat dog. I got my nose bloodied and nearly went off in a huff, as so many did. Irving prevented that. He was great at rebuilding people's self-esteem.

I seem to be getting a bit of adrenaline back... having a spat with Pelle, and an edgy debate with Jay... it's been a long time...

14629. Magoseph - 4/16/2005 1:03:32 PM

. He was great at rebuilding people's self-esteem.

Yes, he was, as a matter of fact, it was he who took the ball from cmboyce and ran with it.

Hi.

Thanks for all the well wishes, and it feels good to be back at the computer again. It felt ok to be away from it a few days, too, but I really missed y'all.

14632. Frankster - 4/18/2005 4:38:20 AM

Welcome back, Arky! How long are you out from work, or are you ?

14633. Macnas - 4/18/2005 8:16:34 AM

Arky, how are you girl?

Hope you feel well and feel better every day.

14634. alistairconnor - 4/18/2005 8:27:15 AM

Cheers Arky -- Stay rested and happy, there is no better way to get your strength back.

Does it hurt when you laugh? Perhaps we could try to stay serious for you.

14635. PelleNilsson - 4/18/2005 10:23:43 AM

I'm glad to see you back Arky!

14636. jayackroyd - 4/18/2005 7:17:29 PM

Welcome back Arky. I hope you heal up quickly. If it's any comfort, I've been hobbling around after arthoscopic knee surgery for a torn meniscus.

My wife has a conundrum. For the last two months she has noticed a charge, under 30 dollars, on her credit card for an amazon purchase. She hasn't made a purchase since November, and the charges looked like some kind of subscription. The first month, she called the card issuer and asked for a credit, having received an unhelpful email from Amazon customer service. When the charge showed up in the second month, she asked me to figure out how to reach Amazon by phone. This took a little effort--the number is not on the web site. Customer service was helpful, and said they would research the charge.

They reported back by email today that it was an unauthorized charge and suggested she cancel her card. This is not a convenient time to do so, but that's really not relevant.

There are no other charges, just amazon. This looks to me like Amazon has been penetrated or that there was a keystroke error. It does not look like someone has gotten hold of her number itself.

Would you cancel the card? Would you troll the web for similar amazon incidents? Would you stop doing business with amazon?

14637. jayackroyd - 4/18/2005 7:48:54 PM

Never mind. I called them. They were extremely unhelpful. Either they fat-fingered a credit number or their systems are insecure. I just closed my account.

14638. arkymalarky - 4/18/2005 7:51:03 PM

Thanks everyone! I'm doing really well, but will feel a lot better when stitches are out Thursday, I think. Not physically, because I'm having little pain and I'm pretty mobile, but I'm just so restricted until then.

Hope the knee surgery works a real improvement, Jay. I've never had limb or joint problems, and it's really been amazingly easy to get around since I dropped off some of the water weight I'd gained right after the surgery. The first couple of days were the hardest, simply because of that. It was very uncomfortable--almost entirely in my stomach.

14639. arkymalarky - 4/18/2005 7:58:25 PM

Hey Frank!

I'm out for the rest of the school year, which only has about six weeks. I have a fully certified sub in my place who's having a great time, and friends keep me posted on how things are going at work. I promised seniors I'd come to their graduation (which is an improvement for me, because I usually don't go), and I will attend a reception for a new superintendent at the end of the school year, and that's it.

14640. arkymalarky - 4/18/2005 8:00:09 PM

Alistair, it hurts when I laugh and cough, and for some reason everything's funnier since I got home. I made the mistake of watching the Seinfeld where Elaine accidentally sends a shot of her nipple on a Christmas card a day or two after I got back, and I thought I was going to bust a staple--but I didn't.

14641. arkymalarky - 4/18/2005 8:04:59 PM

That's infuriating, Jay.
