15043. thoughtful - 5/19/2005 4:24:47 PM Good for you isbs!
Remember, Fed Ex founder Fred Smith submitted his idea for Fed Ex in a college paper on which he got a C and a remark from the prof that it will never work.
15044. thoughtful - 5/19/2005 5:23:32 PM girlfriend is getting married for the 2nd time and they are holding a 'hawaiian' wedding...we're asked to wear hawaiian clothing. fortunately I still have my genuine made in hawaii muumuu, and hubby has a matching aloha shirt. Pretty fabric...royal blue background with white hibiscus all over.
But, I have no idea what to get for a wedding present. They are combining households, both have grown children, so I'm just not sure what they would appreciate. I'm open to suggestions.... 15045. judithathome - 5/19/2005 8:48:43 PM Wine rack and corkscrew; something with their
i new
initials on it...like a monogramed corkscrew. Heh. 15046. iiibbb - 5/19/2005 9:13:53 PM - Tivo
- Fat Lowes or Home Depot gift certificate
- A weekend at a bed and breakfast...
dunno 15047. iiibbb - 5/19/2005 9:14:39 PM toaster
Some friends of mine had a wedding once and made the mistake of saying explicitly they didn't want a toaster.
They got about a dozen. 15048. thoughtful - 5/19/2005 9:21:02 PM hahahahahah
figures people would get what they don't want.
I was actually thinking of a nice set of crystal wine goblets...the initialed corkscrew would be a nice touch. 15049. thoughtful - 5/19/2005 9:37:18 PM weekend at a B&B also sounds nice.
There's one up in new hampshire that is really nice...old victorian mansion connected to a really good restaurant...includes breakfast and dinner with the room and it's reasonably priced too. Stonehurst Manor
15050. judithathome - 5/19/2005 10:52:29 PM Hey, I wish I'd known about that place when I lived in Maine! That looks like a great idea.
I also like the wine goblets. The reason I mentioned the initialed corkscrew is because when I married Keoni, I was very happy to change my monogram...and looked forward to having it for the next 50 years or so. ;-) 15051. jayackroyd - 5/19/2005 11:37:45 PM A bottle of vintage port that will be drinking at an appropriate anniversary can be nice. 15052. judithathome - 5/19/2005 11:40:56 PM Arky, your mention of hearing the Republicans in your sleep reminds me of my dream last night...not political but we came to see you and Bob and I decided I needed to "pop back home to get something I forgot"....ha!....and when I drove up in the driveway, the police were there and arrested me!
I woke up before I found out why.... 15053. arkymalarky - 5/20/2005 2:59:10 PM Oh my!
Just pack carefully when y'all come--you don't want it to be a premonition! ;-) 15054. Magoseph - 5/20/2005 6:58:04 PM
15055. uzmakk - 5/20/2005 7:17:26 PM I just thought I would drop by to tell you that everything is under control in Uzbekistan.
Arky, thank you for your response re: Irving Snodgrass. I mentioned teak furniture and the Snod to my next door neighbor who is an owner of a "home store" a year or two ago. He just expressed an interest for the first time a week or two ago. 15056. wabbit - 5/20/2005 7:27:19 PM Uz, these are the two websites for Irv's Bali businesses:
furniture: JavaBaliExpress
stuff: Bali Stuff 15058. PelleNilsson - 5/20/2005 7:52:22 PM Hit the wrong button. Sorry. 15059. arkymalarky - 5/20/2005 8:18:09 PM Sorry I misinformed you, Uz. 15060. wabbit - 5/20/2005 9:01:40 PM Arky, you may well be right that Irv isn't involved with the Bali businesses anymore, I don't know one way or the other. I just had the url's. I should have said "Irv's Bali businesses, last I knew". PsychProf may know more. 15061. judithathome - 5/20/2005 10:38:53 PM It's 95° here. 15062.
