I had to think about this--I'd say white. I love lillies of the valley, camelias and orchids.

15506. Macnas - 6/16/2005 8:50:04 AM

Well done UB, best of luck.

15507. Ulgine Barrows - 6/16/2005 8:58:51 AM

Ah, you're a gardener after my own heart.

White sets off EVERYthing.

15508. Ulgine Barrows - 6/16/2005 9:03:37 AM

Macnas, your advice to not panic ---thankx!

It's going unheeeded, all the same.

Tell us more bout that job!

Beware of all enterprises that require a new set of clothes.

A man after my heart, this Thoreau... it's about time I read him. But I fear I may be getting into such enterprises.

Not ones which require fluttery skirts, in case you're wondering... but conceivably something that will pass for a suit and tie. An old friend and colleague who I haven't seen for a couple of years, but was thinking of calling this week... calls me with the prospect of an interesting job.

Mago :
La dame aux camélias?

No, I think you're
Le lys dans la vallée.

I'll take Balzac over Dumas.

15511. Magoseph - 6/16/2005 10:22:15 AM

I saw two movies with Suzanne Flon--have you seen some of her work, Ali?

15512. Magoseph - 6/16/2005 10:23:11 AM

I saw L'Été meurtrier and La fleur du mal, this last recently.

15513. Magoseph - 6/16/2005 10:29:05 AM

You're right, Ali, Balzac is my man.

15514. Magoseph - 6/16/2005 10:30:00 AM

But you know, l'amour impossible was never in my repertoire.

15515. Magoseph - 6/16/2005 10:33:38 AM

Where is the locale for two summer olympics to date?

15516. Magoseph - 6/16/2005 2:38:29 PM

I couldn't get in for a while--so I mailed the Gatekeeper, but then I found that I could get in on IE, for goodness sakes!

15517. Magoseph - 6/16/2005 2:40:18 PM

I still can't get in on Firefox. I wonder why.

Thank you, wabbit, got it right this time.

15520. arkymalarky - 6/16/2005 5:18:10 PM

I think you'd really like Thoreau, Alistair. I finally got Bob to read Walden last year and he loved it.

15521. thoughtful - 6/16/2005 6:17:32 PM

Ulgine, congrats on the new job.
And remember if that doesn't work out, all you need to do is pretend to be kidnapped and then show up back home...whole new career opportunity!

Mags-- wait a minute. La Fleur du mal, Chabrol? BCBG cousins who have the hots for each other, incest, murderous auntie/killer in a summerhouse/political disgrace all on a bordeaux beach.

Am I right?

The whole thing is this slurr or images. it wasn't half bad but it wasn't half good either. which means the rest was, just watchable.

15523. Magoseph - 6/17/2005 9:27:30 AM

Yes, that is the one, Web--my brother insisted that I see it because he wanted me to find out which personages were most like some uncles and aunts in our mother’s family. To me now, this movie is a black satire with excellent actors—not a movie I care to ever see again because it brought back to me some unpleasant memories. It was a chock to realize that my father’s family, long vilified by my mother’s family, had been in fact the best one of the twos.

15524. alistairconnor - 6/17/2005 10:34:00 AM

hmm I confess I haven't seen it. I'm surprised how few of Chabrol's films I've seen. I should start renting DVDs... but I would need a time machine to be able to watch them... or learn to give up sleeping perhaps.
