Now I must go and repair a gunstock. See you tomorrow.

Now I must go and avoid a spider bite. See you tomorrow.

16675. Macnas - 9/23/2005 8:21:45 AM

Oh god yes, do that, some pictures of spider bites were posted recently, which, combined with the descriptions of the effects, can only be described as dreadful.

See yaz.

Mac, what you just said reminds me now that Arky has not been in the Cafe since she told us that a spider had bitten her. I hope that she’s fine and only busy with work. How are you?

16677. Macnas - 9/23/2005 11:54:43 AM

I'm grand girl.

16678. Magoseph - 9/23/2005 1:15:44 PM

I'm so glad to hear you saying this, Mac. Have a great weekend.

16679. alistairconnor - 9/23/2005 1:34:26 PM

Pip pip Mago!
Lots of work around the place this weekend, and a party : 20th birthday of a neighbour who has just come back after spending a year in New Zealand.
She was very sad to leave. Her parents are happy to have her back.

16680. alistairconnor - 9/23/2005 1:36:09 PM

Best wishes for the Jenerator... her time is come, I would guess? I suppose we'll get the details in due course.

16681. Macnas - 9/23/2005 1:44:46 PM

Indeed, all the best to Jen!

16682. Magoseph - 9/23/2005 2:41:04 PM

Ali, I just looked up Pip, Pip, Hooray and I became involved in a discussion about the merits of using this expression versus Hip, Hip, Hooray, for goodness’ sakes. Sometimes, it’s hard to believe that I can actually get involved looking for the etymology of certain words or expressions just because of a faint past memory. Anyway, Butch nudged my elbow me at the keyboard and demanded that I took him outside, so I lost the discussion.

They always make a big deal of a foreign girl and I know how hard it’s to go back. In my case, I just turned around and went back (helped by my grandmother), not to return home for several years.

I’m going to check where I think Jen may post and see if there are some news about the birth.

16683. Magoseph - 9/23/2005 2:42:07 PM

Are you giving the birthday party, Ali?

16684. Ms. No - 9/23/2005 4:19:28 PM

G'morning Mac, Mag, Connor.

Anyone else have big plans for the weekend?

I'm headed up to Newhall to meet the brother and fam for the 12th Annual Hart of the West Intertribal Pow-Wow. Lots of arts and crafts, traditional food, dancing and kid activities.

16685. Magoseph - 9/23/2005 4:31:33 PM

Oh, wow, that should lots of fun, Ms. No!

16686. Ms. No - 9/23/2005 4:34:58 PM

I'm very excited about it. I've never been to this event before, but my tooling instructor highly recommended it so we'll see.

Speaking of which, I finished the finged bag I was working on. I'll post a pic so you can see what it finally turned out like.

16687. Ms. No - 9/23/2005 4:43:58 PM

Here's a close-up of the oiled and stained applique that I posted before.

16688. Ms. No - 9/23/2005 4:45:27 PM

And here you can see most of the bag --- the strap isn't all that exciting, just rivets and some fringe. Sorry, the focus is not great because my hands just aren't steady enough.

16689. Ms. No - 9/23/2005 4:46:43 PM

Maybe I'll do a whole project pictorial start to finish over in Arts. I've got one I'm working on now, but I didn't take enough intermediate pictures so it'll have to be the next project.

16690. Magoseph - 9/23/2005 4:49:20 PM

Very beautiful work, Ms. No, will you be taking it to Newhall?

16691. Ms. No - 9/23/2005 5:34:02 PM

I really haven't decided yet. On the one hand, I'd like to because it's an opening to discussion with craftspeople. On the other hand, these folks are pros and while I'm thrilled with my progress to date, I've only been doing this for a few months and until recently not all that diligently. It's not like I spend 20 hours a week carving or anything -- my hands aren't strong enough yet.

Ah, feck it, I'll probably take it with me as a fashion statement if nothing else. ;->

16692. Magoseph - 9/23/2005 5:47:00 PM

Every pro you meet probably will ask you where you got the bag, so there you’ll be getting all kinds of tips if you ask for them.
