Ulgine Barrows - 9/27/2005 6:27:34 AM And how would any scientific progress come from that mindset? 16762. Ulgine Barrows - 9/27/2005 6:31:06 AM Forget the scientific, strike that. 16763. Ulgine Barrows - 9/27/2005 6:36:23 AM I watched the "No Direction Home" too, well most of it except for the 40 minutes I was reading the goodnight book to the kid.
Who was that white guy who killed the black guy by shooting him behind a bush?
The piece could have been done better by showing each person's name each time they spoke. I missed a bit in the middle, and it was confusing later. 16764. judithathome - 9/27/2005 7:00:23 AM Hey, sometimes resistance is scientific and sometimes it's just good manners. 16765. Ulgine Barrows - 9/27/2005 7:13:15 AM Sometimes people aren't raised 'properly'
with their big ideas of what they will be
I don't have PhD, shouldn't that person lead the way?
Talk about good manners.
Yes, I could learn some. 16766. Macnas - 9/27/2005 8:56:41 AM But sure what good would that do? 16767. Ulgine Barrows - 9/27/2005 9:01:55 AM Absolutely nothing, sure as I'm sitting here. 16768. I don't know what you do with your lives 16776. Magoseph - 9/27/2005 4:20:22 PM I don't know what you do with your lives
Well, some of us are in another realm of time than you are, Ulgine.
After listening to Flexy for the last year-and-a-half about how to go around at the local Wal-Mart, I followed his advice, which was to ask an employee at the door where I wanted to go and write it down. This place is so large that, unless you know in advance where the things you want are, you might go around and around to the point of exhaustion, Round and straight cable needles, stitch markers, harness for Butch, and a broom for fall leaves were the only things I wanted so I was out of there quickly. I had absolutely no desire to see more of the store.
Gone are the days where I could be found marching up and down aisles with kids trailing me.
16777. Macnas - 9/27/2005 4:29:51 PM My Missus, and I describe outings to large shops thus: you don't go shopping there, you go trawling.
It's a thing I tend to do if I'm not pressed for time, you're wandering around, looking at stuff, saying things to yourself like "mmm, extra mature cheddar and water biscuits, they'd be nice!"
All you went for was some washing powder and 2 tins of baked beans. You come out with the nice cheese and light biscuits, a good bottle of red to go with them, some of that dark chocolate the Missus loves, two cartons of free range eggs and some bacon rashers, cos it's been ages since you had a fry up, and when you get home you find you've forgotton the beans.
