A LITTLE?
Well, I'm glad it made you laugh, husbands are dying all over town around here....this guy I work with, he got real sick and is in ICU all of a sudden. Vision of health, all of a sudden he is sick, his wife calls up, all freaked out, and no wonder!
I hope Flexy is getting better.
Here's a virtual cupcake with dinosaur sprinkles on it, one each for you & him. 18647. Ulgine Barrows - 2/22/2006 3:47:42 AM o gawd, my son wanted cupcakes baked in those icre cream cone things so he could take to school for his birthday.
The first dozen, I overfilled and they looked awful. Something brown dribbling down the sides....not happy and puffy AT ALL like the picture on the box. 18648. Ulgine Barrows - 2/22/2006 4:00:43 AM Oh, and the directions to fill 3/4th?
Hello, let's say 2/3rds. 18649. judithathome - 2/22/2006 4:03:05 AM judithathome, that's not the point...
I can chop my own veggies and make one of those recipes if I have minions gathering all the ingredients and laying them out for my 30-minute spot, or I can gather all the ingredients and have a minion chop them...or if I've made that recipe 3 times, and have all the ingredients ready, it might be 30 minutes.
Like most quick recipe cookbooks, it only works if you happen to carry the same common pantry items as the author.
Well, duh...the only way we can cook like ANY of those shows is if we happen to have those staples on hand...hell, the only way I can make poached salmon with lemon, capers, and dill poached in wine is if I have all those things on hand.
The point of these shows is for the person at home to watch and if they like the recipe, to go out and purchase the ingredients and then prepare the dish. The same with reading a cookbook: if you see a reipe you'd like to try, purchase the ingredients and follow the directions.
18650. Ulgine Barrows - 2/22/2006 4:14:54 AM What's up, judithathome?
Maybe I didn't make myself clear, I only got the Rachyl Ray book after looking it over in the library several times... and noticing her pantry was much the same as mine...yet, those recipes don't take 30 minutes.
Or duh, I'm a slow cook or chef. 18651. Ulgine Barrows - 2/22/2006 4:19:03 AM And it's been my experience that most of the time spent making excellent meals, is vegetable and spice prep. 18652. Ulgine Barrows - 2/22/2006 4:45:17 AM And apropos of nothing, did you ever go to Peter Frampton concert? 18653. judithathome - 2/22/2006 4:48:30 AM Sure did...do you feeeeel like I do? 18654. Ulgine Barrows - 2/22/2006 5:03:27 AM ha ha, you. I most surely do not, feeeeel like you do
but he's got a freak wah-wah pedal, though, no?
The title of that song is actually
"Do You Feel Like We Do" according to various sources.
Like, the Royal We.
And what do these lyrics mean:
Champagne for breakfast and a Sherman in my hand.
Peached up, Peached Ale, never fails.
18655. Ulgine Barrows - 2/22/2006 5:09:27 AM I dunno, I'm asking. Always wondered. 18656. judithathome - 2/22/2006 6:19:10 AM Champagne for breakfast and a Sherman in my hand.
Peached up, Peached Ale, never fails.
Sounds like a wicked Bellini to me!
18657. Ulgine Barrows - 2/22/2006 8:26:51 AM None of pain
and woe
she tried to find me
18659. Magoseph - 2/22/2006 3:26:16 PM A sherman, that's easy, but Peached up, Peached Ale, what do these words mean, I wonder, a beer drink of some kind?
Hello, Mac. 18660. Macnas - 2/22/2006 3:32:43 PM hello Mago 18661. jexster - 2/22/2006 7:13:19 PM An email correspondent from DC sends "Dicks Thoughts for the Day" ...everyday..(Quote of the day too)
Some are pretty good
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday,
lying in hospitals dying of nothing. 18662. Jenerator - 2/22/2006 10:41:04 PM I can't believe I missed a discussion about Rachel Ray. I really enjoy her and have two of her books. I am able to make her recipes in 30 minutes and I only wish I had minions. I'd rather have my minions change dirty diapers and do the laundry, though. 18663. anomie - 2/23/2006 1:16:56 AM I'm with you, Jen. And they could clean up and do the dishes too of course. I like to cook, but don't like the mess. 18664. Magoseph - 2/23/2006 1:29:56 AM Hi, anomie--How are things with you? 18665. anomie - 2/23/2006 1:37:55 AM Hi Mago,
Things are the same with me. Still hanging around Charleston until August or so when I can finally leave. Maybe sooner. Got news of another position in Europe today, so that's on my scope too.
Enjoy dropping in to your place here from time to time. You're all doing great, it seems. 18666. Magoseph - 2/23/2006 1:53:47 AM Any idea yet where in Europe it could be?
