Thanks.

It would be a hard move because my roots run deep here. It won't be quite as awful as times I've pulled up roots before since it's her hometown.

At least this time I wouldn't be alone.

All of this is academic until the offer the job... which is probably a could 2 or 3 cuts away. Personally I hope I make the interview. If they don't offer, I will be quite content to stay in this project and location another year. If they do offer it, well... that's when the real strategy starts.

I could do a lot worse than this location.

When I was a kid I had a propensity to sit in the surf and keep waiting for the perfect wave. My brother would ride anything that came along. Kind-of the same with deer hunting. You pass something up, there's a chance you won't see anything any better for a while.

For whatever it's worth, my greatest regrets are over things on which I hesitated and didn't act rather than over regretted acts.

The perfect wave would be a standing wave. You could take your time, it would still be there when you were ready.

iiibbb,

It's bittersweet. Congratulations, though. It IS good news that you are a such a desirable prospect to two important professional groups/organizations. Keep us updated.

18720. Ulgine Barrows - 3/1/2006 6:29:16 AM

iiibbb, go for it.

Choose, don't regret.

Twenty years later you will remember....what you chose.

18721. Magoseph - 3/1/2006 11:01:16 AM

I agree with Ulgine.

You can always come back, iiibbb, experienced and/or wiser—whatever…it certainly will not hurt, rather may help you manage the rest of your life. I know people who never had the opportunity to choose and could only react to events not of their making. They may be happy and contented today, but ask them what they would do if they could relive the years past.

Hello, everyone!

The Unbearable Lightness of Being

I believe it was ib who talked about recumbent bicycles and who didn't believe a kyack story I told once upon a time. I hope things go well for you, ib. I enjoy your posts on the gun thread and I think you defend your position quite well.

I have had a couple of manhattans, but am far from drunk. However, tomorrow I intend to visit the library to retrieve a title page I once posted on the mote, and spend some time in the afternoon here in the cafe. I have some things to tell you. It is very likely that I will be drinking, but I will not be drowning my sorrows. Rather, I am preparing for a rampage.

My Dear Politically Active Arky,
You may find my story interesting.

18724. robertjayb - 3/2/2006 3:05:07 AM

In from the steppe and spoiling for a fight, eh, uzmakk.

18725. arkymalarky - 3/2/2006 6:12:43 AM

I know I will, Uz. I need the inspiration to face another round this spring with a special legislative session. But it's election time, and that will help a lot.

Please don't leave us in suspense!

18726. alistairconnor - 3/2/2006 11:32:48 AM

Looking forward to that, Mr Makk...

18727. judithathome - 3/2/2006 8:56:51 PM

My doctor finally called and I have fractureS along the site of the old break. Not just one but some.

He is sending me to a new orthopedic guy...my other one has left town and I'm glad because I hated his arrogance. Now it's another wait for the insurance to approve the referral.

18728. Ms. No - 3/2/2006 9:00:44 PM

Jeezey-peezey-mary-louisey. If it turns out that the arrogance of the previous doc is to blame for the current situation do you think you might be able to work it so that part of your future physical therapy requires that he wear a plaster boot up his ass for the duration of your recovery?

18729. Ms. No - 3/2/2006 9:07:55 PM

And, hey, where's the Steppe Lord? I was really looking foward to a good rampage today.

18730. judithathome - 3/2/2006 9:26:45 PM

I wish...I'm pretty depressed over this turn of events.

I wonder if that is why the asshole left town...knowing I might be coming after him with a hard plastic boot?

I need a little Steppe Lord rampaging around here, too...

18731. alistairconnor - 3/2/2006 9:35:08 PM

Ahh Judith, please accept a virtual hug from me.

I'm doing a bit of consoling lately -- two close friends have lost their fathers. I knew and liked them both.

18732. judithathome - 3/2/2006 9:43:12 PM

Thanks, Alistair...sorry about your friends' loss.

18733. uzmakk - 3/2/2006 11:51:12 PM

Ms. No,
I'm not drinking and I have less time than I had hoped, but enough excuses!
This quarry case is going on 8 years now. 8 YEARS! I was in court yesterday observing. 8 YEARS! The court system?
HA HA HA HA. And I laugh not as a wild-eyed partisan, but as a chap of average intelligence who can follow an argument.(When I am not being a brilliant military tactician I am a man of average intelligence.) WE, the good guys, have won three appeals and yesterday the township soliciter and our attorney both argued that the case IS OVER. The attorney for the bad guys argued that he was prevented from giving testimony in front of the supervisors and should be permitted to introduce additional testimony. ADDITIONAL TESTIMONY AFTER EIGHT YEARS!!!! THE FACT IS THAT HE CHOSE TO RELY ON THE RECORD AT THE LAST HEARING AND DID NOT INTRODUCE ANY WITNESSES EVEN THOUGH HE WAS ASKED; THE AUDIENCE WAS BAFFLED BY HIS BEHAVIOR. In response our attorney said, "Check the record". "Read the transcripts, your Honor." This judge WILL agree to additional testimony regardless of what the record indicates because he is clearly partisan. He has a client.

All for now. Next chapter -- Uzmakk Steppes Out of the Box. (Stepping out of the box is more exciting and of more general interest than the court case).

If anyone says Hi I will be back later tonight

18734. judithathome - 3/3/2006 12:03:40 AM

Hi!!!

18735. judithathome - 3/3/2006 12:05:14 AM

Your case is showing signs of Bleak House-ism.
