You're blessed to have so many people who love you and love to show it, Mags.

Yes, Arky, I shouldn’t complain—-I’d probably raise a stink if they were ignoring my birthday.

And Happy Birthday to Mago!

Thank you, Pelle.

Buon natale Mago!

You don't owe anything do U?

18844. Jenerator - 3/12/2006 7:30:55 AM

Arky,

She is doing well, thank you for asking. Her recovery has been amazing. She is more flexible and functioning than ever and most importantly, is pain free!

She is loving retirement.

18845. arkymalarky - 3/12/2006 5:47:44 PM

I'm SO glad for her! She deserves every minute of pain free retirement. She's certainly earned it.

18846. Magoseph - 3/12/2006 6:27:16 PM

Hi, Arky!

Judith, thanks for the good wishes and especially thank my friend Keoni.

Jex, thank you, but why do you ask me if I owe anything?

18847. arkymalarky - 3/12/2006 6:43:57 PM

Hey Mags!

18848. thoughtful - 3/12/2006 11:09:00 PM

Mags, sorry I'm a day late but happiest birthday wishes to you.

18849. Magoseph - 3/13/2006 1:31:58 PM

Thanks, thoughtful--I had a nice day and long talks with my sons, remembering the good times when they were kids--much laughter.

What exactly does the word “Irisher” mean, Mac? It was in a recent NYT crossword puzzle and all I could find by way of explanation is that the term describes someone from Belford? I think that calling one “Irisher” has a more definite meaning. Does it?

18850. Macnas - 3/13/2006 1:55:18 PM

I've heard/read it used by someone of german/yiddish background as a term to describe someone who is Irish or is of Irish descent.

18851. Magoseph - 3/13/2006 4:59:32 PM

Thank you, Mac--have a nice evening.

Anyone here by any chance own an acura?
Just wondering if you've had transmission problems too.
They replaced the original with one that crapped out 6 mos later. I'm a couple of weeks on this third one and getting nervous about driving the thing much further from home than walking distance.

So tell me again why I paid so much money for a car that was supposed to be reliable, only to find out I wasted it?

18853. anomie - 3/14/2006 12:00:05 AM

That's rotten luck, Thoughtful. That may be the first negative thing I've heard about Acura. As you say, they are known for being reliable.

18854. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 3/14/2006 12:02:57 AM

How old's the car and what time is left to itsr power-train warranty?

18855. thoughtful - 3/14/2006 12:34:03 AM

the car is a '99 with a 6-yr warranty, which honda extended another year just because of this tranny issue. So when the 2nd one crapped out, it was 10 days past the 7 yr warranty, but they tell me each tranny comes with a 3 yr warranty so it's still covered. So fortunately, so far it's not cost me $$ yet but it has cost me time and frustration and nervousness that i'll be stranded.

What really ticks me off is that it's clear this is a much larger problem than they expected so, they can't keep up with demand for all these trannies so they are putting in rebuilts which obviously still have the original problem...something about insufficient fluid to 2nd gear and supposedly they added an extra tube or something to fix that. Yeah right.

Look at consumer reports on used cars and the acura tls, which this is, are red (good) across the board except the tranny which is solid black (bad).

I hate to spend the $$ to buy a new car as I expected to get at least 15 years out of this one, and I really like it a lot outside of this problem, but what good is a car that you can't rely on? Esp when i use it on bus travel which means i have to get where i have to go, no excuses.

Most frustrating. I had an important mtg last week and so there i am driving the 11-yr old subaru as i trust it more than the acura...go figure. I told hubby at this point, i may be taking the '48 jeep to work as it's probably the most reliable of all!

Thank goodness we have lots of vehicles!
