Oh how nice!

19106. RickNelson - 4/7/2006 9:23:19 AM

Hey back to yah, arky.

Andrea is doing fine these days. Lucky for her she missed most of the illness. She's had it once, and that messed her up in one class. It's hard to maintain when that happens.

This week is another round of big tests, and a big paper. She's also been asked to be maid of honor, and two busy friends are going to be around. She's a bit over wrought with it all. Still, she's young, and two years older than she, we had her, while both parents were in college, and I worked around 30 hours a week. Whew!

Seems odd to compare, like I'm old. However, with Jacob, the little whirlwind, I've gotten to revisit a lot of the old days. I love horsey back, and floor monkey-business. I bought floor mats so we could play and not get hurt. My family room is tiled, and the mats work great.

Remember toddler scoot cars? He's had a fire engine since last June and he loves it. It makes a lot of sounds and voices, obnoxiously good stuff.

His daycare is going great too. He's getting a lot of exposure to new things and playmates. The illnesses have been occasionally rough, and they're frequent, but we expected it. The cost is freakin' outragious, but the benefits have outwayed looking around. The program is within the school district, and has good oversite and staff. The facility is great too.

That's all for now.

Hi, Rick, nice news, will comment later.

Hi, Mac and everyone!

I must run to town now and get the lovely man here his reward for not being the difficult patient he always is in doctors' offices. I think he was stunned in to good behavior by the findings. We made a pact that if I want to take him to a doctor, he won’t find excuses to postpone the visit.

19108. wonkers2 - 4/7/2006 1:21:52 PM

Nobody looks forward to doctors visits!

Good morning, Mago.

19109. arkymalarky - 4/7/2006 2:46:18 PM

Great news, Rick! Thanks so much for the update.

Good luck to Flexy, Mags.

Judith,

Glad to hear your leg's on the mend --- need you up and about in July.

Please, what happened with the little boy and the car chase?

19111. Ms. No - 4/7/2006 3:53:27 PM

Mago,

How in the world did you wrangle this concession out of him?

19112. judithathome - 4/7/2006 4:47:50 PM

I called the police department this morning and the dispatcher checked for me and said the report was that they had been unable to locate the car. It was not a locally registered tag and wasn't in the system here.

But they thanked me for calling it in, nonetheless

19113. Macnas - 4/7/2006 4:57:17 PM

Ah yes, support your local police. They need all the help they can get.

19114. judithathome - 4/7/2006 4:58:48 PM

Well, they are braver than I will ever be, that's for sure.

19115. Ms. No - 4/7/2006 8:18:23 PM

I hope it was just a kid being bratty and not one in danger trying to escape.

19116. anomie - 4/7/2006 8:31:05 PM

Had a similar experience in England once, Judith. We saw a man pulling a screaming kid, 3 or 4 years old, through a parking garage. My GF noted the license plate and called the police. They had the courtesy to call back and tell her it was the child's grandfather and everything was fine. They thanked her for calling.

Ya never know...

Happy birthday, Jexter!

19121. jexster - 4/8/2006 8:01:18 PM

What's so damned happy about 54, 53, 52....40?

Condolence more appropriate but thanks anyway. At least I get a yuck at Cheney's expense!

19122. arkymalarky - 4/8/2006 8:56:44 PM

It's probably an old joke, but an old favorite superintendent of mine used to tell us at the beginning of the school year that when you wake up, raise your hands up above your head. If you don't feel the inside lid of a coffin it's a good day.

19123. judithathome - 4/9/2006 2:54:41 AM

Happy Birthday, Jex...you old coot! ;-)

19124. judithathome - 4/9/2006 2:56:02 AM

Freakish thing happened at dinner tonight: a woman at another table kept looking at me and it started to get almost creepy...there were 10 of us and I thought at first she was looking at the two 20 somethings sitting next to me...our friends sons, very cute college guys.

After dinner, she and her husband and three little kids went up to pay and while he was paying, she can up to our table and said "Excuse me...you look so familiar to me." So I told her my name and she asked if I had ever lived on _______ street and I said yes...she introduced herself and said she grew up next door to me. I nearly fainted! This was the little girl next door when my son was in high school and she was about 10-12. The last time I saw her, she was maybe 14.

I told her I couldn't believe she recognized me and she said "I'd never forget you...I always wished you'd been my mother." I nearly fainted!
