Thanks, Mac, for asking how we are! We are ready for the five doctor and surgeon appointments this week concerning Flexy's left eye cataract operation. By the nineteenth, we’ll know more and if everything is fine, the right eye will be operated on once the left eye heals. I have rested my back the last few weeks in anticipation of much driving in the area.
Flexy is fit, tanned, and looks forward to a nice summer.
He says that he is not interested anymore about the real estate we intend to sell. I have to take him to an attorney today because he wants me to have a Power of Attorney so that I can be the one having the headaches, so he said. Fine by me, the three-car garage is coming down and the old one will have a new roof to accommodate the only car we will have in the future.

Judith, do you remember when we drove to where I work and I pointed out my friend's house--a large brick/siding two-story? A tree crashed right through it through two floors. Luckily no one was hurt, but only because her son had come downstairs when the storm began. I imagine all their beautiful trees will go now.
I swear, I've spent more time in the hall this spring than in all my other years of teaching combined. No electricity, either. Thankfully we were only out at home for about two or three hours in the middle of the night. I'll find out when I get to work tomorrow whether theirs is back, but the prediction was Friday.
Seniors' last day and all the traditional events went as planned with a few adjustments for weather and no power, including their "countdown" (an old tradtion) and special lunch of brisket. It was a very strange day all around, capped off by my last test of the grad classes this evening. I have two papers to finish by this weekend, and round one will be over. 19387. arkymalarky - 5/11/2006 2:59:03 AM I intend to sleep all weekend, too. I have had interruptions almost every night I had a major test or something all semester. Last night it was the power being out. Mother's Day came Monday for me when Bob bought me a guitar. I love it and I'm very anxious to get a chance to relearn all the stuff I've forgotten. Magoseph - 5/11/2006 1:38:01 PM Hello, everyone--I thought that I’ll check with you this morning now that I can sit down. The appointments for Flexy’s eyes operation are well on the way. The A-scan is done and this morning he’ll be pre-admitted at the hospital. Monday is the primary doctor’s visit and Thursday the left eye surgery will take place with a follow-up checkup the day after.
This weekend, Mother’s Day at eldest son’s place and first time we’ll see the lake room and the brick patio finished—will post pictures when I get them.

Magoseph - 5/11/2006 9:53:24 PM Wonk, it’s 43 degrees here now and the wind is at 37 mph. When I got out of the supermarket, it was raining so hard I got soaked thoroughly. I could hardly see going back home.
The paper says that we are in for heavy rain, high winds and maybe even snow and that stepping into rain driven by 52-mph wind gusts may be the best option for showering the next couple of days. Not only would it be invigorating, but also it would honor the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District’s request that customers cut back on water use during the storm.
Well, we will get the worse of it before it reaches you, Wonk.
Flexy's surgery will go well--there's this sentence in his file, written by his previous doctor that warns everyone that he is a difficult patient--I'm not kidding, I read it while the doctor was out of the office. It's very rare, but has happened three times in less than a month.

That must have been the night we had 200mph winds north east of us...three people died, a teenage boy and an 80 year old couple. It happened in a little town called Anna.
We lost electricity but that was all.
Arky, I am so glad your friend's son was okay...the house can be repaired, after all. It was such a beautiful place but I'm sure she considers herself lucky since the son was unharmed. 19398. arkymalarky - 5/13/2006 1:29:33 AM I think it was that night, and then we had another wave the next morning which is what put the school under a warning and knocked out their electricity. On my commute that morning I noticed more trees down as I got closer, but didn't even see her house on the way by because of how far off the road it is and where the tree hit.
This is working up to be a whale of a tornado season in our stretch of the alley. I'm glad your area and mine avoided that round.
She is very grateful, because often when they hit after dark those winds come up and a tree is down before anyone wakes up. They're all still stunned and overwhelmed about how to approach fixing it, but I think it won't be as bad as it would have had it hit across the whole house rather than one section. 19399. arkymalarky - 5/13/2006 1:32:42 AM That looks wonderful, Mags.
