19504. Magoseph - 5/30/2006 2:12:13 PM Hello, dear Moties, how are you?
Judith, how was the pool party?
Arky, did you see anything interesting on your country drive?
iiibbb, you must tell us something about the bachelor's party, please.
Ali, how did your Venice’s trip go?
19505. jexster - 5/30/2006 4:29:41 PM Ola Mago..yea i3's BP WAS HOT!! I jumped out of a cake naked! Then did a Brokeback routine complete with 30/30 rifle shot at an Elk.
NAILED HIM
AWESOME 19506. jexster - 5/30/2006 4:31:39 PM Dick's Thought for the Day
Some have said they broke the mold after I was made.
Thank Heavens I got made! 19507. alistairconnor - 5/30/2006 5:12:15 PM Venice was still there.
I will file a report shortly. 19508. jexster - 5/30/2006 6:31:04 PM Stayed at the Royal Danelli did you? I remember it well - Venice that is..10 y.o. with grandfather. Nice hotel just off St. Mark's Sq. Could see the side of the Cathedral just out the room window/
Murano, Burano, Torcello, lotsa gelato, getting lost in the narrows of back canals, climbed the Campanile three times..was juiced on campanille climbing in those days for some reason now lost 19509. arkymalarky - 5/30/2006 9:12:04 PM Arky, did you see anything interesting on your country drive?
Thanks for asking, Mags. We didn't go anywhere new, so nothing stands out as interesting, but it was all very pleasant. We drive much of the same route 185 days a year--Bob his part and I mine. Mine's much better because Bob's is interstate. I showed Bob my classroom and we went to his classroom, and we had a great small-town lunch buffet, which is like the best of Southern holiday family potluck, and stuffed ourselves to the gills. As heathens we beat the church crowd and nothing was cold or picked over.
We used to drive a lot of weekends, but we got busy and gas got high and we never do it now. Old couples still drive by our house on weekends, though, so apparently it's still a common activity out here.
Today was my last day at work and we had a fish fry. It was also great.
19510. webfeet - 5/31/2006 5:43:27 AM Opposite the hotel where jexster stayed with his grandfather, there's a cafe the size of a ballroom just in front of st. mark's square where musicians play in the late afternoon sunlight..filthiest toilet I'd ever encountered in my life.
Lido beach..isn't that where you stayed? I remember it notjust for the muddy sand and striped beach tents, but this boy building not a sandcastle, but sculpting titties out of sand. big, huge, felliniqesque knockers. It was unreal.
well, come on, we're waiting for your carnet de venice. 19511. webfeet - 5/31/2006 5:48:23 AM What was your fish fry, arky? I have just started barbecuing fish chez mes parents out in the wing dings of suburbia, and I'm open to suggestion.
The fish guy in their supermarket, a culinary student no less, told me to marinate fish in italian salad dressing.
I actually did this with swordfish once and it was terrific. Although feeling that was too easy an opt, I added lemon, red onions and fresh herbs/
But the words 'fish fry' have always had a peculiar, insider mystery to me.
19512. webfeet - 5/31/2006 5:51:37 AM I celebrated my daughter's birthday at her pre-school todayand I got in trouble with the director for taking photos!
I was apparently violating everybody's 'privacy'. I had no idea. Here I was with my Strawberry Shortcake napkins and party horns, and i didn't even fucking know!
Ah, but I am so misunderstood. 19513. webfeet - 5/31/2006 5:58:25 AM Madame de Merteuil, my daughter who is three, really loved the picture of your pooch. 19514. arkymalarky - 5/31/2006 6:28:27 AM It was just the standard Southern catfish fry with cornmeal breaded catfish, hushpuppies, slaw, and potluck side dishes and desserts--Mississippi mudcake and such.
I was apparently violating everybody's 'privacy'. I had no idea. Here I was with my Strawberry Shortcake napkins and party horns, and i didn't even fucking know!
Criminy. They just don't let y'all have any fun. 90% of the parents would be in trouble in every school event around here. Of course it's also entirely possible that around here the director wouldn't survive having a camera surgically removed from his ass. Parents here don't play when someone tries to come between their kid and their camera. 19515. alistairconnor - 5/31/2006 10:16:44 AM Madame de Merteuil eh? Already making the preschool lads leap through hoops I suppose.
Perhaps there's a baby model or child of a famous actor in that preschool that you don't know about, and the director is just trying to protect you from an expensive lawsuit. 19516. alistairconnor - 5/31/2006 10:22:27 AM No San Marco hotels for us Jex... we slept in the van over at Punta Sabbioni, not quite hobo style mais presque. We're talking about serious cheapness.
Murano, Burano. They are OK, but everyone goes there. We are more adventurous, discovered the delights of the little-known lagoon islands of Durano, Furano and Gurano. 19517. anomie - 5/31/2006 10:39:47 AM Fish Fry. I remember going to one of those at Reelfoot Lake Tn. when I was a kid, Arky. Eating what we actually caught that day. Deep fried yellow catfish. I still make it at home once in a while with coleslaw. That, and Perch fried the same way. Your mention of it recalled the memories of the actual event and of the grainy old 8 mm home movies of the event. 19518. anomie - 5/31/2006 10:42:20 AM Maybe we'll get some pics from Venice and from Pelle's cabin?
I love Venice. Been there once for a day. Way too short a time and I will go back.
Ive heard of Murano (glass), but are you kidding about the other 'uranos? I'll have to grab a map today. 19519. Magoseph - 5/31/2006 11:17:19 AM Ano, Pelle posted pictures of his cabin, but I can't remember where and when--maybe if he sees your post he'll repost them.
Around here, the fish fry is a fixture on Friday’s evenings in most family restaurants, all you can eat. We used to frequent one, Flexi and I, but we gave up the habit the last six months because the restaurant ceased to carry the broiled fish.
19520. alistairconnor - 5/31/2006 11:18:35 AM Burano is the pretty fishing-village island with the multicoloured houses. Yes, I invented the other ones. 19521. Magoseph - 5/31/2006 12:47:48 PM I jumped out of a cake naked! >/i>
Jex, this sentence drenched out a memory about a fake cake and me jumping out of it, not naked, however. I must tell it sometimes... 19522. Magoseph - 5/31/2006 12:48:42 PM Oh, messed up my tags...sorry. 19523. Magoseph - 5/31/2006 12:49:23 PM Again!
