And while we're on details, Bubba...a gentleman worthy of a cozy New Year's Eve? Sounds delightful.

Okay, but first, here's a picture I took that won a little award back in the 70s; I scanned it for Jenerator and posted it over at RI and figured while I had the URL in my mouse, might as well put it here:

Short version of the mystery:

Our neighbor across the street who cooks our steaks has a sister-in-law who got engaged to this rancher on Christmas eve; he's very socially connected in this town and rich as all get out. He called her the other night from the ranch and after they talked for a bit, he hung up and the next morning the ranch manager found him in the yard with his brains blown out....allegedly, a suicide. However, the Texas Rangers are investigating it as a murder because a 12 guage shotgun was the weapon and it doesn't make sense that he could committ suicide with a gun that long. Word is, they suspect the ex-wife.

Happy new year, all!

Bonne et heureuse année, Motie!

I mean MOties--no, no, I didn't have a drink--sadly, there are no drinks in this house.

20806. arkymalarky - 1/1/2007 1:39:25 AM

I love that picture, Judith, even with my current blocky picture view. When we get on satellite in a couple of weeks I'll have a better view.

What a creepy story. It will be interesting to see how it comes out. Years ago near here there was a murder in the country that appeared to be by a surprised intruder, but it turned out to be the man's wife and her girlfriend (I don't think her husband had gotten the memo that she had shifted gears, so to speak) who did it. I don't remember how they figured it out, but I do remember it didn't take long.

I hope all you Mote folks have a great New Year's Eve and a fantastic 2007!!!

I will be glad to see 07, 06 was not ok --the trouble with growing old is losing friends so all moties stay heathy please , love bugs patsy

20814. judithathome - 1/1/2007 5:46:53 PM

Happy New Year from the Spencer household...where we're losing our minds getting everything ready for the party! 99% per cent preparation and 1% party...but worth it!

20815. arkymalarky - 1/1/2007 7:37:51 PM

Y'all have a great time, Judith!

Bob and I looked up from our laptops at about 12:06 and raised our Courvoisier to each other. I am eating a bushel of blackeyed peas today.

I think it every New Year and hope I remember to say it each year, but I do love all you Mote people.

20816. anomie - 1/1/2007 9:13:41 PM

All the best to everyone in 2007! I thought I'd start the year by remembering my Mote password and saying hello.
I'm fairly well settled into my house in Vegas since I arrived on 1 Dec. My trip coincided with Thanksgiving and so I spent it with my sister in Chicago. From there I rushed over the Colorado Rockies just ahead of a big storm and was lucky to make it despite some blinding snow that lasted only about an hour.
So, it was my loss not to drive through Judithland or Arkyland and meet two of our favorite and indespensible Mote members. But we live for another day.

Happy New Year to all.

20817. anomie - 1/1/2007 9:18:53 PM

Nice pic Judith. Effective. Made me a little dizzy.

20818. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 1/1/2007 9:44:18 PM

My nephew works for the Nevada Gaming Commission, anomie; let me know if they ever cheat you . . . and Happy New Place & Year!

20819. thoughtful - 1/1/2007 10:45:13 PM

Nice shot J@h!

Happy New Year one and all...Here's hoping you all enjoy much health, happiness and good fortune this year.
