Every good wish, Judith.

Leslie was in surgery for two and a half hours this morning and is still in recovery. They will be moving him to the Heart Care building at Harris with in the next two hours where he will be held overnight. The vascular surgeon has prepared us for the worst...his right leg now has only one working artery from the knee down and they sucked out all the blood clots that were in it...the surgeon said the next 12 hours will tell whether or not that artery will be able to handle blood flow and if not, he will lose the leg from the knee down. He said the left leg is not much better and he could possibly lose it, too, in the future.

He was very honest with us and seemed to think the outlook is pretty grim for the right leg. He did mention that Leslie must get into therapy soon. So I am not all that hopeful that this is going to end well. I hope I'm very wrong.

Oh dear. I'm so sorry to hear this. But please don't borrow trouble...jump off that bridge when you get to it and be hopeful that this will work for him.

Remember too that they've made tremendous improvements with prosthetics, especially, and unfortunately, since so many amputees are returning from iraq. Should it come to pass, it is not a life sentence to immobility by any means.

I'm sending all my best wishes for strength courage comfort and hope your way.

R.I.P., Anna Nicole Smith.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — (AP) - Anna Nicole Smith, the voluptuous former Playboy centerfold who married an octogenarian billionaire and waged a legal battle for his fortune all the way to the Supreme Court, died Thursday after collapsing at a hotel. She was 39.

Big hugs to you and Leslie and Keoni, Judith. Thank you for taking time to let us know how things are, and please just say the word if there's anything we can do.

R.I.P. Anna Nicole Smith....the wages of sin is death...

21113. alistairConnor - 2/9/2007 1:13:11 AM

Hell, Judith, I hope for the best for your son.

21114. prolph - 2/9/2007 2:37:18 AM

21115. PsychProf - 2/9/2007 3:03:35 AM

Me too.

21116. Ms. No - 2/9/2007 3:38:37 AM

I'll be thinking of you, Judith.

21117. arkymalarky - 2/9/2007 4:05:05 AM

How have you been, No? What's your semester schedule like?

21118. judithathome - 2/10/2007 5:37:35 PM

The doctor released Leslie from the hospital yesterday around 4pm yesterday and he's home now. Doctor said the artery is functioning okay but he wants to keep an eye on it; Les will have to make drastic changes in lifestyle and be checked often. He really dodged a bullet this time...he said the doctor chewed him out but good and scared the shit out of him. ;-)

Thanks to everyone who sent good thoughts...evidently they worked! Keoni and I feel we have the best friends in the world!

21119. wabbit - 2/10/2007 6:06:39 PM

What a relief, JaH, I hope Leslie continues to improve and do well.

21120. wonkers2 - 2/10/2007 6:45:34 PM

Good news, Judith!

21121. arkymalarky - 2/10/2007 6:51:18 PM

Oh that is SO Wonderful!

21122. tmesis - 2/11/2007 12:26:24 AM

I hope scientists will prove soon that smoking's bad for your blood vessels, so people will know not to smoke.

21123. judithathome - 2/11/2007 12:38:31 AM

Me, too...but that wasn't the problem with my son. He never smoked...he hated it and would, even as a child, chide people for doing so.

21124. Magoseph - 2/11/2007 1:29:32 AM

Hi, everybody--I'm sick of this weather.

21125. wonkers2 - 2/11/2007 1:49:07 AM

I think that smoking has a bad effect on one's blood vessels has already been established. At least it's clear that it causes them to contract. And when the capillaries near the skin constrict it reduces blood supply to the skin and causes premature wrinkling. A 50 year old smoker often looks 70.

We've got a bit of sad news for people who've been out to the house. Gus died last night. Evidently he was hit by a car, though there wasn't a mark on him. Mojo and Bob are both pretty down. I'm sad too, but they were bigtime daily companions.
