That's better news, Judith. It's still not great that you're going to have to wear the boot for so long, but it will be a wonderful relief for you to be able to take if off in the water.

That's great!

I am here tonight to state the obvious:

FOOL

I joined a 6-week grief group. It was unconfortable. I went into the the ladies parlor and got about 12 squares, which were gone before the facilitator even entered the room.

What was I thinking? I cry at some commericials, and many movies. Next time, I'm taking 2 boxes of snotrags.

Some people there, were upset that there exist grief groups around town that had been meeting for over 7 years. The lady next to me said, I came for myself, and stayed for you,

FOOL

Thank you very much, interface, for repeating that.

22515. Ulgine Barrows - 8/24/2007 7:35:37 AM

Heh...I guess I was seeing double before, but now I'm not.

I can only urge you all to grab some of that weired-looking fennel with the frothy leaves, that you pass by in the supermarket, and add it to your best late-summer recipe.

"And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I
don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime."

I cry at some commericials, and many movies.
I feel for you. I'm a bit like that myself. I'm currently installing some software in a hospital, it specialises in convalescence for burned children. It's not like I burst into tears in every corridor, but it's moving.

22518. judithathome - 8/24/2007 4:21:41 PM

Yesterday, I spent the day at the hospital...my son is in ICU with acute pyleonephritis (kidney infection). He passed out at work WEDNESDAY and was taken by ambulance to the ER where he stayed overnight until YESTERDAY at 9am when they moved him to ICU. They finally called his father and sepdaughter and she called me. She gave me a ride to the hospital and we stayed up there most of the day.

I can barely walk today. I called the ICU and the nurse said my sone had a restful night, is keeping liquids down, and is sleeping. They are going to move him a private room today, as soon as one opens up. So I'm not going to try to visit him today since he's just going to sleep all day, anyhow.

So much to endure at times, Judith. Life is a gift and a curse, filled with unexpected delights and terrors. Every good wish for your son and that your delights will always outnumber the other.

22520. arkymalarky - 8/25/2007 12:43:42 AM

My lands, Judith, that's awful. Give him my best wishes.

22521. wabbit - 8/26/2007 12:20:27 AM

Good gawd, JaH, you are on a roll. Best wishes to you and your son.

We had the best first week of school we've had in several years, and I think it's going to be a great school year. We're about 20 students short, and if we don't get the numbers back up and pass a millage we will be forced to consolidate; but hopefully the numbers will increase in the next year or two and the millage will pass. By the end of this school year we should know our fate for the next several years at least. And I can relax, because I'll be in a position to retire or go to part time, though I'll be heartbroken if the school goes, whether I need a job there or not.

It's neat working with Mose. As I thought, I hardly see her. She loves it, but she's drained. The first year of teaching is exhausting, and the first week of every year wears Bob and me out.

22523. judithathome - 8/26/2007 5:52:41 PM

I'm so glad she got the job...I can just see her walking the halls of the school!

How is your eating plan coming? ;-)

And how does it feel without your friend? We were chuckling over her "school resumés" remark just yesterday. Have you talked with her since she started her new position?

22524. judithathome - 8/26/2007 5:55:20 PM

After a week of lurching around on this boot, I am finally going to go buy a "tall" shoe(pair) for my right foot to even out the 2" difference...my right hip is starting to give me fits. Since all my shoes are flat, the need for something with a little elevation seems like a good idea.

22525. arkymalarky - 8/26/2007 8:54:03 PM

It's better now that I'm in a routine and Keoni's biscuits are gone!

I told her I'd told y'all that story, and she was mortified. "You told them THAT?!" She is so funny. But she's SWAMPED with her new job. I haven't called her this weekend, but before school started she was working about 14 hours a day getting kids registered. I'll give her a couple of weeks and see if she's still going like that.

22526. Ulgine Barrows - 8/27/2007 8:15:02 AM

judithathome, best wishes for your son. He might be black & blue, but he's yours. Unhurt. Delivered on your doorstep.
What more could a mom want?

22527. Ulgine Barrows - 8/27/2007 8:23:27 AM

The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'till I'm sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me.

22528. Ulgine Barrows - 8/27/2007 8:24:34 AM

All you create
All you destroy
All that you do
All that you say.
All that you eat
And everyone you meet
All that you slight
And everyone you fight.
All that is now
All that is gone
All that’s to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon.

22529. Ulgine Barrows - 8/27/2007 8:26:19 AM

Ah, christ, that make me look like a lunatic.

For the record,I'm not.

22530. Ulgine Barrows - 8/27/2007 8:27:24 AM

Despite the misspelling.
