22667. vonKreedon - 10/1/2007 4:24:57 PM One of the other applicants is one of the guys who started Talk Like a Pirate Day! He and his lusty wench of a wife were also on Wife Swap. Busy man. 22668. alistairconnor - 10/1/2007 5:36:19 PM Jesus, Kroesus. The things the rich need to do to amuse themselves.
Lucky me, I have to work for a living, and don't have to resort to playing Jeopardy to keep myself amused.
On the other hand, I'd really like to go on Pop Stars. If only I had the time to practise. 22669. arkymalarky - 10/1/2007 11:10:00 PM Congrats VonK!
When we sit on the porch, especially with friends, a common line is "wonder what the poor folks are doing." This weekend they'll be shooting pool, I guess. The truck stop game room is opening up, with our very own pal Jim in charge.
This could get interesting. 22670. wabbit - 10/1/2007 11:54:14 PM I did some pirate talkin', but have zero interest in wife swap, though I think my sister might benefit from having her family go through that ordeal.
Congrats, vonK! Don't forget to study the Bible. 22671. judithathome - 10/2/2007 2:35:54 AM with our very own pal Jim in charge.
Interesting, indeed!
I have to wear this effin' boot cast for another 4 weeks. I'm bummed beyond belief.
22672. thoughtful - 10/2/2007 2:00:31 PM mother reminded me of the time my brother slipped on the ice at work and got a spiral fracture in his leg. They had to reset it twice and finally the third time it came apart, they decided to pin it. The whole ordeal lasted 6 mos with him in a plaster cast from his toes to mid thigh.
Besides the itching, the thing he most wanted to do was to be able to sit squarely on the john.
I remember seeing his leg when he finally got the cast off...it was about the size of my arm...so emaciated. Took years for that leg to match the other in size and shape.
So I know it's frustrating for you J@H, but it could be worse... 22673. vonKreedon - 10/2/2007 3:19:20 PM I've never had a problem with Biblical categories, I credit my catechism classes.
Man, Judith I really hope that your life takes a turn towards easy real soon. 22674. thoughtful - 10/2/2007 10:28:01 PM vonK, good luck with your jeopardizing.
Catechism? I never found it helpful for bible stories...in fact I found it most useless...my gfs growing up knew so much more about the bible than i did.
I seemed instead to be forced to spend my time memorizing:
1. Who made me? God made me.
2. Why did God make me? Because he loves me.
In fact, we didn't even have a bible in the house growing up...instead we had missals! (I always liked to play with my mother's as it had the pretty ribbons attached to it)
22675. vonKreedon - 10/3/2007 6:31:11 PM Ok, it's been a huge week at the vonKreedon household. My wife and her wedding planning Web site company just negotiated an international book deal with Globe Pequot Press! 22676. thoughtful - 10/3/2007 6:38:56 PM Congrats to wifey! 22677. arkymalarky - 10/4/2007 1:22:06 AM Wow, VK! 22678. Magoseph - 10/5/2007 2:41:37 PM Message # 22648
I have thought of you, thoughtful, the last two days and that is because Flexy was TWICE taken to the emergency room BECAUSE the wrong medicine was given to him--a Beta-blocker that caused him to have several mild convulsions and two severe ones!
22679. Magoseph - 10/8/2007 5:06:42 PM We’re out of the wood now—Flexy had three (beta-blocker) incited convulsions Friday, the second and last one less violent than the first one. He was never alone yesterday anywhere and we survived the day without another attack. Although the first attack wrenched his left arm somewhat, Flexy can breathe now and he is secure that if even another attack happens, he is now on the road to recovery.
Tomorrow, we see the regular doctor and Wednesday, the cardiologist. Thanks to Ms. No and anomie for the good wishes!
See ESCAPES for reading about the visit of Anomie and Ms. No. 22680. thoughtful - 10/8/2007 6:20:22 PM Wow! Mags! That is horrible. That is so SCARY! I think the next time you head to the hospital, it ought to be with lawyer in tow!
I'm glad to see he's doing better though...perhaps despite the best efforts of the medical establishment!
My dear doc always told us, if you want to stay healthy, stay away from doctors. Boy was he right. 22681. anomie - 10/8/2007 11:24:24 PM Ms No has met many of the current Moties, of course, and had only the nicest things to say about you all. She made you seem more real to me. As to that, I wish quick healing to those of you and yours who need it now. We all need it from time to time. 22682. wabbit - 10/9/2007 12:55:19 AM Geez, mags, it's good to hear Flexy is on the mend, but what a nightmare for you. Fingers crossed for no more problems! 22683. arkymalarky - 10/9/2007 3:07:53 AM Hang in there, Mags! Let us know how Flexy does! 22684. arkymalarky - 10/9/2007 3:08:28 AM Anomie, isn't No the greatest? 22685. arkymalarky - 10/9/2007 3:09:04 AM I was going to fill her in on something, too, and I can't remember what it is. 22686. macnas - 10/11/2007 3:31:22 PM Did some lurking today.
After 2 hours security asked me to stop, so I came here instead.
