I'm sorry, Judith!

So far, mine's pretty good. I'm excited about politics for the first time in a very long time, Mose and the rest of my family are doing well, I'm having a very good school year with a nice workload, I'm slowly but surely getting my house and health back under control, I'm losing weight and feeling better, and I found out the bridge in the bottoms is on the historical register, so they can't tear it down. They're building a new one beside it. Best of both worlds!!

I did discover today that I have tendonitis. Unfortunately it was after I made a bad pain much worse by putting together a cheap piece of furniture to put a tv on. That's painful stuff. I still hurt badly, but hopefully the meds, ice, etc, will help.

23338. judithathome - 1/5/2008 6:22:47 PM

Ouch! But such great news about the bridge!

Keoni and I are venturing OUT this afternoon...first time in over 2 weeks for me. AND I bought a new winter coat today...online...and got 50% off on it.

Life is good.

23339. arkymalarky - 1/5/2008 8:40:56 PM

Yep. Will you need the coat? It's going to be in the 60s here today.

I guess I should post this in TV and Movies, but Dish has a good new channel if you're into natural stuff--Veria, on channel 9575. They've got an hour long yoga program and an hour long pilates program, plus cooking, aromatherapy, organic and health info, etc.

23340. judithathome - 1/5/2008 11:20:18 PM

I think you have to pay more for it, though. I think I wouldn't use it that much...don't do either of those exercise programs. But I'll check it out because I'm definitely into the aromatherapy stuff.

That may change (no exercise programs) when the gym opens, though...they have classes and I can go to them 7 days a week if I choose to. I had planned on doing my own thing in the pool...my workout...but I may do a water aerobics class, too.

23341. arkymalarky - 1/6/2008 1:17:19 AM

It's not extra. It's free, at least on my package, which has no premium channels. The exercise programs are great, but they're the only two exercise programs in a line-up that includes lots of information about natural remedies, alternative medicine, organic shopping, uae of herbs, etc. And it's not too fuzzy or out-there, based on what I've seen so far. It's even got cooking programs, including one just for desserts using natural ingredients and no sugar.

I was into yoga long ago, in high school and college, and I loved it. I'm ready to get back into it, but I need a program--it's hard to do from a book, though I have before. This channel surfaced just as I was looking for that. I also like what I've seen of pilates, though I want to still walk at least two miles a day.

Very little in this world is free.

23344. judithathome - 1/6/2008 8:02:38 PM

Arky, I'll check it out!

23345. arkymalarky - 1/10/2008 3:09:52 AM

I am so pissed. I wrecked my car. Just brain-farted right into the back of someone getting off the interstate exit ramp.

23346. wonkers2 - 1/10/2008 5:38:54 AM

Too bad! At least apparently nobody was injured.

23347. Ms. No - 1/10/2008 6:29:51 AM

Well, crap, Arky. I'm glad no one was hurt, but I know how bad the whole thing sucks. I'm still humiliated that I did that very thing. How bad is the car wrecked? Salvageable or totalled?

23348. arkymalarky - 1/10/2008 7:48:36 AM

Thanks, y'all. I know what you mean, No. I'm just so disgusted with myself. I don't know about the car yet. A hose of some sort is leaking and I can't lift the hood. The policeman was very nice and looked through the gap between the bent up hood and the motor to see if it would be okay to drive. I got it to Mose's house and will have the wrecker pick it up from there. Low population effect: It was a former colleague of mine's mom.

23349. alistairconnor - 1/10/2008 5:38:58 PM

Bugger! Sounds like you didn't completely write it off at least. How did you go with yours, No? Do you have wheels? Are they safe and/or legal?

My girlfriend totalled her car just before she met me... ran it into the back of a bus. (Why do women do that?) In her case, she told me it was because she learned to drive at the police academy... you learn to do everything fast. She accelerated to overtake the bus then noticed someone else had pulled out to overtake her... having the choice, she chose the bus... Smart move. The bus sustained no damage.

I really shouldn't mention that she had forgotten to pay her insurance premium... total financial loss too... because that would make her sound like an idiot. Which she certainly is not!

23350. judithathome - 1/10/2008 5:39:03 PM

(((Arky)))...sorry about the accident.

23351. thoughtful - 1/10/2008 7:23:52 PM

Ow! So sorry, Arky.

You never ever forget that sound of crunching metal.

So glad no one was hurt.

23352. Ms. No - 1/10/2008 8:20:56 PM

My car drives, but I'm afriad I'll get pulled over in it if I drive it much simply because I elected not to repair it. My mother is getting a new car so she's driving her current one out here to Cali and leaving it with me at the end of her visit.

I do short errands like the grocery and laundry once every couple of weeks. I'm still insured and registered and all that legal stuff so I'm okay on that front. I just don't feel comfortable driving it in the shape it's in.

And people stare, you know? ;->

23353. arkymalarky - 1/11/2008 12:49:59 AM

Thanks, everyone!

That's awful, Alistair.

I must tell on Bob. He got his first new car, a Hyundai Sonata, in Sept. I'm driving it now, because I don't feel comfortable driving the S10 pickup on my commute. I never drive it, it's a standard, it's old, it's small, and he drives it every day anyway to keep from putting miles on his precious new baby.

Well, this morning I was getting ready to leave and he asked me if I had a key to his Hyundai. I said I did, and he insisted I take the keyless entry. I assured him I was okay with the key and it was sweet of him to take the keyless off his keychain and put it on mine, but it really wasn't necessary. He then informed me that he did not want me using the key to get in his car, because I might scratch it.

I want my car back.

23354. wabbit - 1/11/2008 1:43:10 AM

LOL!! Glad you're ok, Arky!

23355. arkymalarky - 1/11/2008 3:23:08 AM

Thanks, Wabbit!

23356. alistairconnor - 1/11/2008 10:28:03 AM

My god Arky... you're married to a ... a ... a MAN!

I've always known I was some sort of transsexual, because I just don't get that stuff.
