Hi Neato! You forgot the closing bracket for the image tag:
<img src="http://members.optushome.com.au/hark/lostleunig2.jpg"
width="150"> will give you this:
2470. Neato - 9/18/2003 10:08:05 AM Thanks Wabbit! I was worried last night that I had wrecked something, and went to bed hoping it would all be ok in the morning....
It is my first time with this sort of thing. Would you be kind enough to tell me how to post an image from my own files? I promise to close the bracket. 2471. wabbit - 9/18/2003 11:41:49 AM No problem, Neato, it was easy enough to fix.
If the image is a file on your computer, it cannot be displayed on a website. You'd need to have it at a publicly accessible website first, then do exactly what you did before (with the closing bracket!). The src is the location of the image, i.e. the web address. The width can be whatever, but anything over 470 will push the page margins here out of whack. If you go by the example in #2469 you should be fine.
Note: some public websites block image linking. For instance, Geocities used to allow it, but started blocking image links a few years ago. Many ISPs give you a couple mbs of webspace and you may be able to link from there. 2472. Neato - 9/18/2003 12:10:11 PM Thanks again Wabbit 2473. Neato - 9/18/2003 5:50:32 PM width="300">
2474. wabbit - 9/18/2003 10:22:34 PM Oooh, you are almost there. A break tag is inside the image tag and it shouldn't be there. The example in #2469 would be all on one line if the column was wide enough. Without the <br> your image tag would be exactly right. 2475. Neato - 9/18/2003 10:50:45 PM Wabbit, I don't understand about the break tag. I copied and pasted from your #2469 but it started a new line after "img" 2476. wabbit - 9/18/2003 11:10:43 PM Aha. When you want to type HTML tags to show how to write the code, the browser interprets the tags as code and just shows what the tag instructs it to show, rather than show the actual code. Confusing? In order to display the code, I used a preformatted tag and nested the image tag inside that. A pre tag is for display purposes, it displays exactly what you type, including line breaks, so that's why the br is in there.
Try typing it from scratch instead of doing a copy/paste and you should be all set. 2477. ScreamingSin - 9/23/2003 5:18:30 PM tiny wing 2478. Neato - 9/23/2003 10:01:07 PM 2479.
