Res!

26404. judithathome - 5/6/2011 7:54:28 PM

Speaking of airports: our summer guests are landing in less than an hour.

I can guarantee you there is not one speck of dirt anywhere in this house except in the flowerpots.

26405. arkymalarky - 5/6/2011 9:01:06 PM

Haha! Well y'all all know not to expect that at my house!

26406. arkymalarky - 5/6/2011 9:02:09 PM

I'm so ready for that weekend! But I know I'll have a good time on the senior trip this weekend.

26407. resonance - 5/9/2011 4:39:31 AM

* bass riff *

26408. arkymalarky - 5/9/2011 4:12:01 PM

I got in trouble at Six Flags yesterday, so I'm going to try to behave at the zoo today. My phone lost charge and I got separated from the others, partly because--okay mostly--I didn't stay where I said i'd be. So when I got to the meeting place at the agreed on time they'd been waiting an hour, so they said, and when I walked up they all yelled in unison "Where were you!!" So now even tho my phone is charged the kids have insisted we will all stay together at the zoo. What a bunch of killjoys.

26409. arkymalarky - 5/10/2011 3:12:58 AM

On the way home from the last ever senior trip for my little school. So sad, but we have had such a fantastic time. My kids are the best in the world.

26410. Jenerator - 5/10/2011 4:13:32 PM

Well, Obama has managed to botch it all - again.

What the heck?!

When the news broke about Bin Laden's careful and excellent assassination, I thought to myself, "Wow, Obama *does* have a pair!"

And now his story keeps changing and the press is having a field day with the mistakes made and the bad PR.

Way to eff it up!

26411. Jenerator - 5/10/2011 4:14:26 PM

And why aren't any members of the press talking about his wife's age? I've heard reports that she is anywhere from 24-17 with a 12 year old daughter.

Do the math - Bin Laden liked child brides.

26412. arkymalarky - 5/10/2011 4:28:18 PM

Glad to know you stay on top of all that WND/Fox stuff. Family Radio is monitoring it, as well, so there's your media coverage. People who want to find a way to criticize Obama's handling of Bin Laden are wasting their time and making themselves look desperate. In a bar or an election, that's never a winning look.

26413. arkymalarky - 5/10/2011 4:29:42 PM

As far as obl, there's not a thing about him that would surprise me or wouldn't disgust me.

26414. Jenerator - 5/10/2011 5:01:31 PM

Arky,

Honestly, I haven't tuned in to any talking heads, I am just reading various online newspapers.

One day there is elation that Bin Laden is dead and the raid executed superbly. The next, we are changing our story and essentially apologizing. We have gone from legitimacy to doubt.

Obama's team should have had their facts straight before they started leaking them to the press.

---------------

As for the discussion regarding Amal's age - WHERE is this national discussion? I haven't seen it!

26415. Jenerator - 5/10/2011 5:06:20 PM

I was excited when I watched Obama's address! While my family members turned up their noses and credited Bush, *I* was excited for him (and everyone involved). When the picture was released that initially claimed to show Obama and his team watching Bin Laden's execution, I thought that Obama was tougher than I thought.

Then Obama's team had to correct that assertion, and it *wasn't* of him watching that moment, no one's really sure.

President, just own it. Your team of bad-ass Navy Seals killed the most infamous terrorist of our time. Yes you watched it, yes you ordered it, yes it was his child bride that was shot in the leg. Yes you authorized killing his family members and acquaintances inside. Yes you had him buried at sea because he doesn't deserve a shrine.

OWN IT!

26416. arkymalarky - 5/10/2011 6:24:33 PM

No one has apoligized, not once. That's a false right wing meme that has never been supported with a single fact in any case they've applied it to. Brennan, who also worked un der Bush, may have spoken to hastily before he had everything clear, as did others. There were no leaks. Some outsiders have tried to spread rumors, but that's par for the course, just like right after 9/11 or Pearl Harbor, or any major event. Bush does deserve credit for focusing on the courier. Obama deserves credit for carrying it out. But there are many good reasons we will never know a lot about what happened, under Obama or Bush, most of them to do with national security. This should continue in politics, but I only use my phone these days to post.

26417. arkymalarky - 5/10/2011 6:28:31 PM

There is a book obl's son and a wife who left him wrote. I imagine you could get a huge amount about how awful he was from it. It was highlighted in the news after obl's death, but I don't get the relevance to anything now.

26418. iiibbb - 5/11/2011 12:34:07 AM

I just can't get excited about any criticism being made from either side about the bin Laden killing.

(1) I really don't care that the story changed... it doesn't change the basic point that Obama and his team got him.

(2) Those people calling it an assassination... I don't care... Osama deserved what he got.

(3) Those people complaining that we shouldn't have violated Pakistan's border... and how would the U.S. feel if China did it to us... I don't care... if China flew helicopters into Yonkers to kill bin Laden I wouldn't say a thing (the Dalia Lama that's a different story).

(4) The people complaining that we treated the body too well, or not well enough... I don't care.

Anyone judging any of it has the benefit of 20/20 hindsight and they can stick it in their ear.

This is one of the few people on the planet that I shelve my opposition of the death penalty.

26419. arkymalarky - 5/11/2011 5:42:34 AM

I posted a reply in politics

26420. alistairConnor - 5/12/2011 5:47:31 PM

Hi guys and gals... Just checking in. Lovely to see you all. I hope nobody's been blown away or washed down the river...

Nothing in particular to report. Life is, on balance, damn good. The planet is FUBAR. Situation normal.

26421. arkymalarky - 5/12/2011 6:10:29 PM

That woulld be a snafu! Great to see you Alistair! Catch us up

26422. judithathome - 5/12/2011 8:39:12 PM

My houseguest and I were at the salon getting haircuts yesterday when 60+ winds and storms hit...we bolted for home during a lull and saw metal electrical poles bent double and trees uprooted all over the place. It was scary as hell.
