I just have to keep reminding myself to be calm, relax and remember that if I'm not super-teacher every day, nobody is going to die.

26542. arkymalarky - 9/5/2011 7:08:57 AM

that's right. and if you see it's temporary that makes it easier. one thing about teaching is the job has a start and end every year and no two years are the same. i never feel trapped in a bad or hectic situation on the job.

I'm just thrilled with my schedule this year. I teach 1st, have prep 2nd, teach 3rd & 4th, go to lunch, and then have 5th & 6th. My day is broken up enough that it should help me manage my stress levels.

26544. arkymalarky - 9/6/2011 6:00:30 PM

at work, but will post mine later. that is a good schedule.

Well we finally got power back...after 6 days. Power is nice. Generator was good...we have it hooked up to 330 tank of LP. Great stuff. All the schools were delayed for a week due to the hurricane.

Let's hope we don't get any more!

A day late, but happy birthday to the Mote - 12 years old now.

26547. PsychProf - 9/14/2011 12:50:36 PM

Thanks for all your work here, Wabbit.

Wow, it'll be a teen next year. Those teen years--

Oh, oh...

26549. Ms. No - 9/15/2011 3:58:11 AM

I can't beleive I forgot? It was sort of eclipsed by the other anniversay.

26550. iiibbb - 9/21/2011 3:06:42 PM

Arky-- we got the propane generator and I tried it out. I'm pretty happy with it, but I won't be able to tell you more until the next disaster. I have a feeling it's going to be pretty easy to operate, and I like the fact that there won't be any to get old in the carburetor. I think all I have to do is change the oil and run it every so often.

26551. arkymalarky - 9/21/2011 11:20:59 PM

thanks! bob wants to get one that runs off the tractor, but i think propane is a better idea. he really doesn't want to get one at all and has been dragging his feet for the last 30 years. ;/

26552. iiibbb - 9/22/2011 2:21:06 AM

Seems like a no-brainer if you have propane at the house already.

26553. iiibbb - 9/22/2011 2:21:42 AM

Assuming you even want/need one. I'm ambivalent, but it could come in handy one more week in my life.

i think he'd go for it, depending on the price.

26556. judithathome - 9/22/2011 10:20:07 PM

Jeez, I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

26557. arkymalarky - 9/22/2011 11:24:58 PM

generators for when the power goes out.

26558. judithathome - 9/22/2011 11:54:38 PM

Well...when our power goes out, we just leave the house and drive until we find some place with lights on...or give in and go to bed.
