Happy New Year, old friends!

(That's one New Year's resolution kept. Hope the others are as easy!)

Not sure why I wandered off - there's been no change in my (good) life - but I've been missing the Mote and the Moties. Hope you're all well and have a great 2012!

Hey Mags! Great to see you! How's everything.?

26707. OhioSTOPAS - 1/3/2012 12:18:30 AM

Hello again! Things are fine here in suburban Columbus. I'm still at the same job, in-house counsel for a megabank in its Columbus offices. Mrs. Ohio and I will be married for 32 years this March.

Our three kids have accomplishments (warning: bragging ahead!):

Our oldest, our son, just got his Ph. D. in biochemistry from Boston University and now has a post-doc job with a hospital in Boston. (Wabbit, you met him when he was just starting at B.U.)

My older daughter got her M.F.A. in theater dramaturgy from the University of Iowa and was married a year ago. She and my son-in-law met at Iowa, where he got his M.F.A. in acting. They moved to the Columbus area and have day jobs while pursuing theater. No grandchildren yet, but they are on the horizon or just over it!

My younger daughter will be graduating this June from THE Ohio State University, with a degree in music. (She plays clarinet and saxophone.)

I haven't been doing any posting anywhere, just writing the occasional irate letter to Columbus's finest* daily newspaper, the Dispatch.

*because ONLY daily newspaper

I hope all of you are well, and I'm looking forward to reconnecting!

Yay! Sounds like y'all are doing great. Congrats on all your kids doing so well! Mine is married and working on a second masters while her husband gets his PhD.

Happy New Year!

Wonderful to see some old familiar faces --- Ohio, many congratulations on your kids' accomplishments!

Wabbit -- love the pic!

Hey all and happy new year! I'm back at work after a two week vacation. I'm having a hard time feeling motivated.

26712. judithathome - 1/3/2012 9:06:49 PM

Belated Happy New Year....good to see familiar faces.

Don't wait another year to return!!

26713. Jenerator - 1/4/2012 4:48:06 PM

Happy new year, everyone! Hard to believe we have known each other for 15+ years!

26714. vonKreedon - 1/4/2012 6:12:39 PM

It is really nice to see so many Moties checking in for the new year. Where are you all physically now? What are you looking forward to in the new year?

I'm still in Seattle, working at MSFT. My son is at Fresno State, well he's currently at home until the 13th when he returns to Fresno to start the tennis season. I'm looking forward to finding more joy in my job as we start the push to release Office 15. I'm also "looking forward" to putting a new roof on our house so that our insurance will still cover us.

Nice to see you all.

26715. Jenerator - 1/4/2012 8:45:47 PM

I'm still in Plano, Texas. This is my 11th year teaching (can't believe it). I'm in the middle of a career identity crisis, so I am hoping that 2012 will give me direction as to what to do next. Pursue a Ph.D? Get out of teaching? What? Life is good.

26716. arkymalarky - 1/5/2012 6:40:04 AM

Wow! 11 years already?

I don't know what I want to di. I could retire any time and have other things I'd like to do, but I still love teaching.

26717. arkymalarky - 1/5/2012 6:40:29 AM

...to do

26718. PsychProf - 1/5/2012 3:08:54 PM

After knowing Arky and Ms No all these years, it is clear that they are passionate, honest, committed, and extraordinary teachers. Would that we had more.

26719. Wombat - 1/5/2012 11:58:30 PM

I'm in delightful Potomac, Maryland. I am revelling in my daughter Wombette's success with her college applications (3 for 3, so far), and waiting for a higher security clearance, so I can get back to work. I guess Wombette must have been around 2 when I first got involved in the Mote/Fray. Scary...

26720. arkymalarky - 1/6/2012 4:24:07 AM

Thanks PP. Like most committed professionals, I love my job. When the system begins to treat teachers as such there will be more.

26721. wabbit - 1/8/2012 12:27:03 AM

Hey Ohio! I remember that day well, and being thrilled to hear the location of your son's apartment. I trust he has moved on by now, the noise would be difficult after a while. Say hey to Mrs. Ohio for me - if ever you are visiting and have time to spare, let me know!

So that clearly puts me in the Boston area.

Good to see some familiar faces - PP, Wombat, vonK, Jenerator and BhelP! Happy New Year to all (and to you Lemwalker, I know you're out there!)!
