Can you, or anyone, let me know why MsNo has been so notably absent from this cafe?

27015. judithathome - 7/26/2012 4:25:50 AM

Busy and traveling.

27016. Ulgine Barrows - 8/4/2012 10:39:30 AM

hello everyone. I hope you are doing well.

I was unemployed for a long time and now I have a government job that I've resigned myself to, yet feel lucky to have. Guess it's part of being grown up ; )

My son is 17 now and going into his senior year.

hello everyone. I hope you are doing well.

LOL, it took me 3 tries for my password. I almost gave up and then I sat back and took a deep breath. It all came rushing back.

Mostly I wanted to drop in and say thanks to you all. This is a wonderful corner of the internet.

hah. forgot about the wonderful idiosyncracies of The Mote.
The bottom part of the message was to have been my re-entry to the community :)

Fantastic to see you, Ulgine...lotsa things going on in all our lives.

Stick around!

Yes, I've been reading about the fantastic cabin in the mountains! It sounds idyllic.
Had a good day myself - laid out by the pool and got some some sun & some exercise.
It's not so dang hot anymore, which is a relief.

27022. arkymalarky - 8/7/2012 5:35:37 PM

We're headed to heat today. The cabin will be better when we get it livable, hopefully by the end of next summer. Got a whole lot done. I'll elaborate in the good life thread.

HelLO ms Barrows! Hello all.

Off to Spain tomorrow -- driving the van to Malaga in the south, visiting an old friend of the Better Half. We'll take a couple of days to get there. Tapas in Barcelona for a start.

27024. vonKreedon - 8/10/2012 3:54:08 PM

Oh that sounds fun! How hot is it in Spain now?

27025. Ulgine Barrows - 8/24/2012 8:00:49 AM

Are you back from Spain? I love tapas.

My husband is going on a business trip to Israel tomorrow. He's nervous but excited. TelAviv, and he's looking forward to some great seafood.

27026. bhelpuri - 9/1/2012 5:11:40 AM

Malaga is a relatively unsung, but excellent city. One of the few remaining places I would want to revisit, come to think of it.

27027. arkymalarky - 9/1/2012 5:56:23 AM

How's everything Bhel?

27028. alistairconnor - 9/3/2012 2:35:09 PM

Malaga : Picasso left it at age nineteen, and never went back. I was astonishingly un-gobsmacked by the city's Picasso museum : perhaps he was a fraud after all? Or perhaps that's just a matter of the works they have, all gifted by his family apparently.

Loved the city. We were there for the Feria, which involves no bulls but lots of drinking and eating and drinking. Oh, and drinking. Did I mention that? I intended to stick to beer but they have this official "friendship wine", when you meet anyone you know you have to buy a bottle and drink it with them. My better half, a nominal Moslem with a thing about Spanish ham, and her girlfriend, a Moroccan Catholic, went to university together in Malaga, having previously been to convent school together in Morocco. So you can imagine...

Yes, the tapas was good too. And yes, it was hot. It's surprising how much heat you can stand when you have beer and tapas and a beach. Many beaches have abandoned half-finished apartment blocks beside them. Yes, the economy's all to hell.
