Had a great convo with MsNo! And our electricity is still out. It went out while we were talking an hour or two ago. But it's finally under 90 degrees.

Still out. Grrrrrr. I have been nagging for a generator since the ice storm several years ago. I'm thinking a trip to Walmart today. Luckily it's cool. 70 degrees.

Came on around 9. Beautiful day, but on day 2 of a migraine. I'm ready to get to enjoy this beautiful weather.

27034. arkymalarky - 9/9/2012 3:55:21 PM

Another beautiful day with electricity and no headache. Yay!

Happy Birthday to the Mote, 13 years and counting (slowly, but counting)!

27036. resonance - 9/11/2012 4:29:01 PM

How about that? Thirteen years is an eternity for an internet community.

So I looked out the window and said, there's no way I'm riding my bike home through that. Thunderstorm etc.

No prob : I keep the car parked at work (parking in town is a pain). Prob : I left the keys at home.

No prob : there's a train soon. Prob : I get to the station and a tree has come down on the line. Not a big prob: the train arrives fifteen minutes later, with a small leafy branch sticking out the side as if it felt it needed to justify itself.

If I have one sexist bone in my body, it is a complete rejection of the notion that women are great communicators.

enough said.

27041. PsychProf - 10/12/2012 8:29:03 PM

Some people communicate better than others. Some use words, some actions, some other, some neither. Gender stereotype for comunication efficacy is not useful, or accurate. So I think...

27042. arkymalarky - 10/13/2012 3:42:20 PM

Flu. Ugh.

27043. iiibbb - 10/26/2012 3:56:37 AM

For the record... if you see a facebook post asking what the answer for the equation

6+1x0+2/2

it's 7

s-e-v-e-n

it is a national embarassment that only not only about one third of the people answer correctly, but that people who answer wrong are so adamant about it - even mean.

but it's 7.

Got my first flu shot ever this week. After the long lasting bronchial infection I just got over and the fact that my sick days are used up for the year, I'd better take extra care until at least January not to get some bug.

Shoulder cats

I've had three cats so far over the last 20 odd years and none have shown any sign of being a shoulder cat although especially my current one, 'Nightling', looks for lots of attention from me.

This wouldn't be my favorite kind of 'shoulder cat'. Looks like the cat is unstable (might want to use claws a lot to hold on) and I wouldn't want to turn my head if I were this guy and catch an unexpected whiff.

I would prefer a cat that drapes itself around my neck. I tend to like oriental shorthairs anyway, so maybe my next cat should be one of those. A long skinny one:)

And I am probably not an ideal candidate for a shoulder cat either. My shoulders are about a foot farther from the ground than most peoples' and my neck is rather thick plus I'm still more active than average. But it would be convenient to have a cat on my shoulder that I could pet rather than having her sitting on my mouse hand when I'm at my computer.

sorry .... just .... can't .... let .... this .... go ...

Now I know where you get all of your political knowledge...

ok.. I said it and I'm sorry....

27047. concerned - 10/26/2012 6:27:05 PM

No, you're not.

Here's something I've always wondered. I know that cats don't like to be laughed at, but considering that it has to be genetic who or what was laughing at cat ancestors millions of years ago and how and why was this trait selected for?

27048. concerned - 10/26/2012 6:28:09 PM

Maybe it's not the laughing noise per se but certain body language? Do I detect a whiff of Federal research grant money here?

27049. iiibbb - 10/26/2012 7:02:00 PM

I'm not sorry for making fun of the picture....

... and I'm not sorry that I find your debate style hard to cope with...

... but something about it I'm sorry for.

but that picture.... I'd say the same thing to almost anybody but my wife and mother in law.

27050. concerned - 10/26/2012 7:24:30 PM

No problem. I was just jesting.
