Maybe if someone lets slip on The Mote email vine that Arky and Judith are not here at the forum, Alistair will come back and settle his debt with me.

27367. judithathome - 6/28/2013 2:32:47 AM

Fuck off, asshole.

There...you should feel right at home now.

27368. PincherMartin - 6/28/2013 8:40:51 AM

Thanks, Darling. That does make me feel better.

Now if you can just make Arky come up with another one of those vague, generic seven-point lists that purports to comprehensively explain everything that is wrong with my arguments and posting style, I will feel right at home.

27369. judithathome - 6/28/2013 2:36:13 PM

I think she did a masterful job in covering everything with the first one.

27370. PincherMartin - 6/28/2013 3:46:23 PM

She did. But you can't have too much of a good thing now, can you?

27371. judithathome - 6/28/2013 4:24:21 PM

Evidently you can't...you're still here.

27372. PincherMartin - 6/28/2013 6:04:33 PM

Somebody has to stay to turn out the lights when you two slack-jawed chicks go to bed.

27373. PsychProf - 6/28/2013 8:35:30 PM

Pincher…reading your posts reminds me of the “no holds barred” Fray. You certainly seem to enjoy holding posters by the ankles and extending their torsos at the top of the stairs.

27374. arkymalarky - 6/28/2013 8:39:22 PM

He wishes he were PP. People have to be interested enough to play along and they simply aren't.

27375. arkymalarky - 6/28/2013 8:45:43 PM

Judith, I was going to post and got distracted with stuff we're working on here, but our plan is to make that clearing a nice sitting area. We wanted to get it done before y'all got here and just didn't have time. I'll send you pictures when we finish.

27376. PincherMartin - 6/28/2013 9:06:26 PM

PP,

It's an enjoyable hobby, a lot more fun than, say, pulling the wings off of flies

And here the flies can fight back !

27377. PincherMartin - 6/28/2013 9:10:15 PM

"He wishes he were PP."

I think you mean PE.

"People have to be interested enough to play along and they simply aren't."

I'm still trying to figure out what, if anything, you're interested in, Arky. Other than sticking gewgaws on hammocks and sleeping the long day away.

27378. arkymalarky - 6/28/2013 9:22:38 PM

PP, as some of us have learned over the past couple of days, posting to Pincher Martin is kind of like petting a stray dog. He thinks he's found a regular place for a meal. It's the nature of the troll.

27379. PincherMartin - 6/28/2013 9:27:07 PM

Regular place for a meal? I'm offended you think I need to eat at this place. I'll have you know I frequent much classier dives for my meals.

I'm only here out of concern for Alistair. For such a regular poster to go missing just months before our bet was due to be paid off seems suspicious to me. What if he went to the bank to get my money and was hijacked by some Kiwi ruffian?

27380. judithathome - 6/28/2013 10:13:06 PM

Regular poster? I think not.

He comes in to post his fiction and make a few comments...you've posted more in the last few days than he has in the last year.

Did it ever occur to you that he might have forgotten the bet?

I'll say one thing...had he won the bet, I seriously doubt he'd have come in here and carried on about it the way you have.

So far, we've caught up with you: still misogynistic and evidently, in dire need of money.

27381. vonKreedon - 6/28/2013 10:25:33 PM

I don't think PM is need of money, but rather in some vague way he's missing the actual give-and-take that used to occur before he and his compatriots vitriol chased emotionally balanced people away. Ignore him and he'll return to picking on conservatives who don't hate the Bushes with enough fervor or who favor immigration reform or...at any rate he's a troll.

27382. PincherMartin - 6/28/2013 10:56:46 PM

"Regular poster? I think not."

Well, to the degree anyone here in this ghost town can be called a regular poster, he's a regular poster.

Besides, he did tell me to come here to find him. So when you see Alistair you can thank him personally that you were able to enjoy my company over the last week.

"He comes in to post his fiction and make a few comments...you've posted more in the last few days than he has in the last year."

Some people exhaust their mental resources for a full lunar month after a post or two. So it's not the frequency of his posts, but the frequency of appearances, we should be looking at.

And over the last year, he's popped in about every month - until about three months ago, when he inexplicably disappeared. He last posted in early April.

"Did it ever occur to you that he might have forgotten the bet?"

The bet was for 1500 euros, which can be exchanged today for about 1950 U.S. dollars. We argued about the subject for well over a month. We then made a second bet for 500 euros a year later. He came back a few months later to inquire as to my confidence about the wager.

And last year, after I saw a post of Alistair's in one of these threads, I reminded him again about our bet. He didn't respond directly to me, but did tell Concerned that he would pay off their $100 wager. I wasn't put off by the lack of attention from Alistair, but I didn't begin to wonder if he had a gambling problem, since he seemed to have a great deal of confidence about wagering on impending environmental calamity.

So, no, the short answer is that I don't think he forgot about our bet.

Correction:

...but I did begin to wonder if he had a gambling problem, since he seemed to have a great deal of confidence about wagering on impending environmental calamity.

Von Kreedon,

How you doing, buddy?

"I don't think PM is need of money, but rather in some vague way he's missing the actual give-and-take that used to occur before he and his compatriots vitriol chased emotionally balanced people away."

And we did such a fine job of it that several years after we left the forum, those sensitive souls still haven't come back. Apparently, the "emotionally balanced" posters we chased away were so finely calibrated that they are still trying to get their bearings back several years after we forgot them and moved on.

But I'm surprised to hear such a comment coming from you of all people, von Kreedon, since you seemed to take some pride in being Ace of Spades' favorite liberal lapdog, and Ace wasn't known for his decorum in addressing those emotionally balanced posters.

You're right about one thing. I don't need the money. But I'm donating the proceeds of my bet to TPW, which does need the money.

27385. PincherMartin - 6/28/2013 11:23:42 PM

If I remember correctly, von Kreedon even followed Ace over to his blog for a period of time. Ace of course was always dominant, and von Kreedon was always the supplicant, in their discussions, but there also seemed to be genuine warmth between the two.

So it's a little odd to now hear von Kreedon warn about feeding the trolls when he used to be the Chief Troll's pet.
