It works. I have one of these sitting on a floor tile that is on a metal plant holder. The tile is quite warm. I wouldn't put it on the floor or a shelf like he does in the video.

Damn refresh. And the video isn't showing. The link works.

And now I see the video. Sigh.

How cool! We could use that at our little CO house. I really can't take wood heat and we don't have gas. Only electric

Worth trying anyway. You could set up a few of these, cheap enough for the bits and pieces. Mine including the floor tile probably cost about $5. I'm thinking of soaking the large pot in warm water before starting it up next time.

I'll definitely try it in CO. It gets down in the 30s even in July.

At night.

That is awesome, Wabbit! I sent the link to different family members and plan to try it myself, soon. I think I have a couple of pots out in the yard. The tea lights should be available for cheap. I know I got a bunch of them in San Francisco when my daughter hauled me out to IKEA there...and I think I have a coupon for bed bath & beyond.

I think a fluted pot would have more surface area to radiate heat. At least that is the principle with my mother's Norwegian wood heater.

Any craft store will have them for cheap. I bought something like 250 a couple of years ago for under $5.

27740. arkymalarky - 11/24/2013 9:07:50 PM

I got them at hobby lobby.

Yet another reason to love this job: our principal is cooking for us today.

We're having "Thanksmas" on Dec.7 because that's the only day what's left of the family could get together for either holiday.

Fine by me...only one chance to really pig out in two months! ;-)

27744. arkymalarky - 11/26/2013 5:51:36 PM

Oh how nice! Mose can't come for Thanksgiving. We're really not having much of a Thanksgiving on either side of the family.

How is the Mother-In-Law doing?

27746. arkymalarky - 11/26/2013 6:03:52 PM

Better! They are on their way to the Dr right now and there was a real question whether she could even make the trip.

27747. arkymalarky - 11/26/2013 6:04:39 PM

If the Dr says OK we may bring food and have a family to do there.

27748. arkymalarky - 11/26/2013 6:05:40 PM

When is Keoni's surgery?

27749. judithathome - 11/26/2013 6:25:22 PM

Eek...just checked the calendar and noticed it's on Friday the 13th! December.
