I've had the crud for almost two weeks now...had to forgo the funeral of my neighbor, who was 86 and decided she'd had enough on her last trip to the ER last week.

I have had this SHIT since that time and was terrified of attending her memorial; all I'd need to feel worse about her passing would be to pass on to her friends this crappy illness I have right now by attending her service.

I have admired this woman since I was 12 years old and send kudos to her soul for refusing to be hooked up to machines in order to make everyone feel better and make her doctors and the hospital more money by trying in vain to keep her around...sorry if that sounds crass but it is how I feel.

Beautiful soul and classy lady who was always dressed to the nines and was the strongest woman I've ever known.

An unsolicited sermon from Col. Pat Lang...

1-Duck Rule: If it walks like a duck, squawks like a duck and has feathers, it probably is a duck.

2 – Sherlock’s Rule: When considering a problem, remove everything from consideration which seems untrue. What is left is probably the truth.

3-Occam’s Razor: In considering a complex phenomenon with many factors and a variety of explanations, remember that the simplest explanation that accounts for the factors is probably correct.

4- Description is not advocacy.

5 - Objectivity is an absolute necessity for clear thought. Leave your political or other "baggage" behind when you seek truth.

5- Always consider items of information separately from their source. Even the worst source may produce information that is true. pl

1, 2, and 3, sure.

4, Wish more people realized this.

5, Difficult. My baggage includes experience and a pretty fair BS detector.

(5)6, Yes. Lesson learned from an ill-advised stint as a teaching assistant.

Jeez, the things we do when bored...I just searched my name on Google and up came posts from many, many years ago authored by CalGal...all about me and how awful I was and how she was vowing to find every forum I was posting on and going to them to trash me because I was such a dumb bitch.

Good times, good times...HA!!!

28389. arkymalarky - 1/14/2015 4:01:51 AM

Yeah back in the day when some people thought this was everything and that everybody they interacted with thought so as well.

28390. iiibbb - 1/14/2015 5:23:03 PM

CalGal was always okay with me until one time we got into an argument and she became unhinged over something I said and was ranting about something that happened to her (and a false equivalency to the point that I was making)... she was starting to get a little acerbic, so as is my way when people are getting nasty with me I pointed out to her that given her present demeanor perhaps she brought it on herself and maybe even had deserved it...

she got very mad at me.

That was a cute Freudian auto-correct....ha! (And yes, I know that's not what caused it but I don't know what that 'feature' on your phone is called...Freudian "trip-up"?)

28395. arkymalarky - 1/15/2015 8:23:41 PM

yep, autocorrect. mine is not as bad as an iPhone, but you oughta look that up on Google. They're hilarious to read.

What a country...

...where so much ink and airtime can be devoted to the inflation of a football...Didn't watch (Packer blues) but from the score I agree with the losing player who said they could have beat us with soapballs.

28399. judithathome - 1/24/2015 8:16:22 PM

Bob Costas said they "coulda used bricks"...ha!

My lands!

28403. wabbit - 1/27/2015 7:16:04 PM

18-20" as of 2 hours ago, maybe another 2" since then and still coming down. Light and fluffy, easy to shovel, and so far haven't lost power!

28404. arkymalarky - 1/27/2015 8:12:28 PM

That's good! One of the best times I had was a foot+ snow where we never lost power but school was out. Hope it stays on!

28405. judithathome - 1/27/2015 9:21:48 PM

Northern Maine...waaaay northern...two story townhouse. Entire first story picture window in living room: blocked by snow.

Said to be the worst storm of the CENTURY in Maine.
