28438. arkymalarky - 2/10/2015 3:55:31 AM Nvm wrt fire. This one is a for real wildfire. Hard to tell around here. They control burn a lot. Still can't breathe but I'm not mad. 28439. judithathome - 2/11/2015 7:50:33 PM Well, I wasn't fishing for an invite...I doubt we could come then, anyhow, because Keoni is assistant teaching high school kids golf 5 days a week...he's so into it! He's actually TEACHING them...the asst. football coach who is assigned the task was teaching them incorrectly. Keoni noticed, showed him some corrections, and now...my husband is teaching 8 kids how to play golf...correctly. 28440. arkymalarky - 2/11/2015 8:17:02 PM Good for him!
We always love to see you!
I work close to there and Stan and I are going Sunday. Jonquils are everywhere here, just 35 miles from our place, where there were only a few.
28441. judithathome - 2/11/2015 9:15:16 PM I remember them when we went with y'all a few years back...beautiful!! Cool little town, too. 28442. wabbit - 2/13/2015 1:56:56 AM Oh, to see jonquils.
It's snowing again, only a couple inches tonight, but expecting over a foot Saturday night through Sunday. No idea where the roads crews will put it. Thankful that Monday is a holiday. Hoping the roof at work holds up. 28443. arkymalarky - 2/13/2015 2:43:38 AM My lands. 28444. arkymalarky - 2/14/2015 5:51:01 PM Happy Valentine's Day Motebuds, and happy anniversary to Judith and Keoni!
Jonquils are still budding out, so I hope this cold snap doesn't bite them back. We're wanting to go back to Old Washington about the first of March. They should be in full bloom by then. 28445. wabbit - 2/14/2015 7:55:07 PM Happy Anniversary Judith and Keoni! And Happy Valentine's Day to all!
Cats and I are hunkered down for this weekend's snow, expecting about a foot tonight through tomorrow. At least the temp has gone up, we're into double digits now! 28446. judithathome - 2/14/2015 8:13:35 PM Thanks! 32 years and counting!
How are the cats settling in?
And Happy Valentine's to one and all...here. it used to be jewelry, champagne, roses and chocolate...tonight, it's a Wendy's Blue Cheese burger and a Frosty! 28447. judithathome - 2/14/2015 8:14:58 PM That was meant to be a "semicolon" after "here". 28448. wabbit - 2/14/2015 8:56:41 PM The cats are doing very well. Felicia, the one who was in the shelter for four years, acts like she's been her all her life. The other two don't hide anymore, still timid, but out and about. Shelby has found the stash of toys and has picked out a couple favorites, one of which she was carrying around yesterday. All good!
Blue cheese burger and a Frosty sounds good to me...even the Frosty. The snow is starting to fall. 28449. judithathome - 2/14/2015 9:04:40 PM Okay, I do this every year...it's 33 years! (I think I get thrown by the "year" being only a month and a half old...) 28450. Ms. No - 2/14/2015 11:18:04 PM Happy Anniversary, Judith & Keoni! 28451. wabbit - 2/15/2015 5:33:43 PM Temperature has gone up, mid 20's now. Judging by the top rail on my deck, we got a solid foot of snow overnight and it's still snowing. The current prediction is that it will be over sometime early this afternoon, and then I can go out and clear the deck, again. No need to join a gym this winter. I borrowed a sledgehammer to break up the ice on my front stoop and after two go-rounds, haven't been able to get down to the bricks yet. Still have power, amazingly. 28452. arkymalarky - 2/15/2015 6:21:30 PM wow, you're really lucky to have power. With ice like that it's amazing. I'm sure you're being careful, but be careful. 28453. wabbit - 2/15/2015 8:14:14 PM Got in from shoveling about an hour ago. My foot estimate was off, I was thinking maybe 18", but the town says officially we got 21". My deck is clear, more or less, and my car is as dug out as it needs to be for me to get out on Tuesday...when we are expecting another 3-5" of snow.
One of the young guys who come around and shovel the walks broke up the ice for me, bless him. I am down to the bricks - which I immediately covered with salt. Not good for the brick, but it helps keep the ice at bay.
As near as I can tell, I'm the only one who has bothered to knock the huge icicles down from above my front door. Don't need one of those coming down on me or the guys. 28454. arkymalarky - 2/16/2015 5:41:12 PM We have heavy, wet ice and no electricity. So glad to have an unconnected generator sitting in our garage gathering dust. The ice shouldn't last, but it's still breaking limbs. If it's heading your way as I heard, it's a good bit of moisture. 28455. arkymalarky - 2/17/2015 12:09:13 AM Guess I'll be out of school tomorrow. We were already out today for Pres Day, but no elec still. Roads are fine, but trees are not. 28456. arkymalarky - 2/17/2015 2:22:03 AM We're supposed to start at ten, but unless I get elec tonight I'm not going. Mose is out, but they have snow and electricity. Meanwhile I keep rotating devices off of the car charger. 28457. arkymalarky - 2/18/2015 1:41:56 AM stayed home today. They didn't have electricity for at least part of the day. We're still out. Stan got gas in the generator, and we can use an extension cord, but can't run the heater. I just hope our propane holds out. as little precipitation is we got, it really seems strange to be out like this. Trees are broken.
