28569. iiibbb - 3/31/2015 5:34:24 AM Watching my mom go through the pain of losing my dad has been the most difficult part of losing dad. 28570. arkymalarky - 3/31/2015 8:09:50 AM Are you nearby? 28571. iiibbb - 3/31/2015 8:28:16 PM No, but flying down next week to spend a couple of days with her.
The short plan is that she lives where she wants, but at some point in the next 2-3 years she should try to move close to one of the three sons. Probably my older brother since he's got the most stable homestead. 28572. arkymalarky - 3/31/2015 8:56:28 PM When two older parents no longer have each other, in whatever condition, it's often a total game changer for the kids. I feel for you and your family. 28573. arkymalarky - 4/1/2015 1:01:59 AM I laugh a lot and cry a bit every year when the red April Fools Day banners show up on the mote.
I'm bracing myself for tomorrow and trying to come up with a good prank at the same time. 28574. bhelpuri - 4/1/2015 6:25:12 AM Ah yes, April Fool's at Le Mote. Always a nice reminder of long-gone action-packed days of this online community. My best to all of you who keep the faith.
Very early this morning, my 7-year-old woke me up (he still navigates from his room to crawl in under the covers with us most days before dawn)to say he doesn't like April Fools and to please not celebrate it, "I keep getting fooled."
So this year's cancelled. Please take note.
(Condolences to iiibbb + Wombat) 28575. judithathome - 4/2/2015 12:36:12 AM Sounds like a plan to me! Props to your kiddo...clearly a great thinker even at such young age.
Frankly, in this country, I think that in Washington DC, every day is April Fool's Day. 28576. Ms. No - 4/6/2015 3:35:01 AM Happy Egg Day! Happy Passover! 28577. arkymalarky - 4/13/2015 9:47:03 PM well, we're losing mojo. And we cannot get anyone out here to a house call to put her to sleep. To try to move her she cries and cries and she's just traumatized. She's comfortable and not in pain at the moment, but moving her at all upsets her tremendously, and she so heavy its almost impossible to move her without hurting her. 28578. Ms. No - 4/14/2015 1:03:23 AM Oh, no! What happened to her? 28579. arkymalarky - 4/14/2015 1:31:08 AM Well, she's over 13 and arthritic, but I don't know. I think she's just shutting down. She went six miles across the bottoms with spook and Danny about three weeks ago, which she shouldn't have, but she seemed fine until yesterday and today she's much worse. Her breathing is very labored and she won't get out of the rain. We put a makeshift dog house around her. 28580. arkymalarky - 4/14/2015 12:36:31 PM Mojo died last night. We will miss our big puppy. She was a sweetie the whole twelve years since she ran up in our yard with a torn off tail. 28581. wabbit - 4/14/2015 7:52:18 PM Oh Arky, I am so sorry to hear about Mojo, she was such a sweet dog. She knew what she was doing when she chose you, she had the good life with you for those twelve years. 28582. arkymalarky - 4/14/2015 8:20:43 PM Thank you Wabbit! We really enjoyed her company. I looked at her sleeping on her back pictures today. Stan thought about burying her that way, but he didn't. 28583. Ms. No - 4/15/2015 5:03:57 AM Arky, I'm so sorry. I'm glad she wasn't down for long before she passed, but I know how heartbreaking it is to lose them, even so. 28584. arkymalarky - 4/15/2015 2:43:09 PM Thanks, No. We have all had major pet losses here in the Mote, but for this particular dog, Mojo lived as full and happy a life as any pet we have ever had. We just want her to be here for ourselves, but she only had two bad days in the end. I was just laughing at her sleeping style Friday, and two weeks ago she was bounding in front of the chuckwagon on the trail, as enthusiastic as ever. 28585. arkymalarky - 4/15/2015 2:43:29 PM Poor Hobo is having a tough time. 28586. judithathome - 4/15/2015 7:40:34 PM Oh damn...I remember when Mojo came to you guys! Keoni will be sooo upset...remember when he threatened to sneak her into our car and kidnap her?
So, so sorry but glad she didn't suffer for long...as I was reading your posts, I was about to suggest you go to the feed store and talk to them about "steps" you could take at home re: syringes, etc. Our friend with all the feral cats has to resort to "steps" at times and he said an animal owner's best friends are the feed store staff.
Would you be willing to "adopt" another "walk-on" for Hobo? 28587. arkymalarky - 4/15/2015 8:12:58 PM If one wanders up, but with his blend he's hostile to most other dogs. Mojo and Mazie raised him. He's got Mazie and Danny, so I think he'll be okay after he grieves. And he and Stan will bond better now. 28588. arkymalarky - 4/15/2015 8:14:20 PM We would have done something by yesterday, but are thankful we didn't have to.
