Thanks, No. We have all had major pet losses here in the Mote, but for this particular dog, Mojo lived as full and happy a life as any pet we have ever had. We just want her to be here for ourselves, but she only had two bad days in the end. I was just laughing at her sleeping style Friday, and two weeks ago she was bounding in front of the chuckwagon on the trail, as enthusiastic as ever.

Poor Hobo is having a tough time.

28586. judithathome - 4/15/2015 7:40:34 PM

Oh damn...I remember when Mojo came to you guys! Keoni will be sooo upset...remember when he threatened to sneak her into our car and kidnap her?

So, so sorry but glad she didn't suffer for long...as I was reading your posts, I was about to suggest you go to the feed store and talk to them about "steps" you could take at home re: syringes, etc. Our friend with all the feral cats has to resort to "steps" at times and he said an animal owner's best friends are the feed store staff.

Would you be willing to "adopt" another "walk-on" for Hobo?

If one wanders up, but with his blend he's hostile to most other dogs. Mojo and Mazie raised him. He's got Mazie and Danny, so I think he'll be okay after he grieves. And he and Stan will bond better now.

We would have done something by yesterday, but are thankful we didn't have to.

28589. judithathome - 4/15/2015 9:09:09 PM

Well, I'm glad it didn't come to that. Really a tough thing to put a pet down.

It haunts you even though you know it was the right thing to do....

28590. arkymalarky - 4/15/2015 10:31:01 PM

Yes it does.

Happy International Worker's Day, Comrades!

Where's the parade???

28593. alistairconnor - 5/5/2015 6:58:25 PM

... and how's work, von K?

Since you ask... I'm programming these days. Visual Basic. Makes me feel... 25 years younger!

28594. arkymalarky - 5/6/2015 12:01:02 AM

How young does this make you feel?

Thanks for asking AC, work sucks, as in I've been effectively unemployed for over two years now. I used to get an offer for about every 3 interviews, but not now. I suspect ageism.

Short joke:
Why older men don't get hired.
Interviewer: What would you say is your biggest weakness?
Older man: Honesty.
I: Oh, I don't think that honesty is a weakness.
OM: I don't give a fuck what you think.

vK: Being there, doing that.

Happy Mother's Day mote moms!

Tornado veered north of us just three miles away...

28602. Ms. No - 5/11/2015 9:06:24 PM

I heard this morning that it was in Denton and wondered about you all.

Ever notice how tornadoes don't tend to hit large cities? I mean, you'll get tornadoes all around Dallas, but I don't recall any actually IN Dallas. Ditto Ft. Worth.

I wonder if the city-scape alters the weather/temperature/wind patterns in such a way that it repells tornadoes.

28603. judithathome - 5/11/2015 9:26:19 PM

but I don't recall any actually IN Dallas. Ditto Ft. Worth.

Well...evidently you missed the one that went one block away from our house, crushed the field house at my old high school, and destroyed the tallest glass tower in downtown Fort Worth a couple of decades ago.

And we had one 30+ years ago that hit on my birthday and killed some people at an arts festival along the river: Mayfest...a (former) friend of mine suffered severe problems from being hit by hail the size of baseballs...she looked like a victim of spousal abuse, she was so bruised and beaten up.

Strangely enough...you're right: I don't recall ANY stories like this about DALLAS.
