28599. arkymalarky - 5/9/2015 10:06:26 PM Y'all holding on, Judith? 28600. wabbit - 5/11/2015 12:08:27 AM Happy Mother's Day mote moms! 28601. judithathome - 5/11/2015 8:56:13 PM Tornado veered north of us just three miles away... 28602. Ms. No - 5/11/2015 9:06:24 PM I heard this morning that it was in Denton and wondered about you all.
Ever notice how tornadoes don't tend to hit large cities? I mean, you'll get tornadoes all around Dallas, but I don't recall any actually IN Dallas. Ditto Ft. Worth.
I wonder if the city-scape alters the weather/temperature/wind patterns in such a way that it repells tornadoes. 28603. judithathome - 5/11/2015 9:26:19 PM but I don't recall any actually IN Dallas. Ditto Ft. Worth.
Well...evidently you missed the one that went one block away from our house, crushed the field house at my old high school, and destroyed the tallest glass tower in downtown Fort Worth a couple of decades ago.
And we had one 30+ years ago that hit on my birthday and killed some people at an arts festival along the river: Mayfest...a (former) friend of mine suffered severe problems from being hit by hail the size of baseballs...she looked like a victim of spousal abuse, she was so bruised and beaten up.
Strangely enough...you're right: I don't recall ANY stories like this about DALLAS.
28604. arkymalarky - 5/12/2015 1:20:55 AM glad to know you're ok. We're out of school today because no electricity and trees down. Two people were killed in Nashville Arkansas which is about 15 miles from where I work 28605. Ms. No - 5/12/2015 4:08:07 PM Just goes to show that even tornadoes don't want to visit Dallas. 28606. Ms. No - 5/12/2015 4:09:24 PM Glad you guys are all okay. It's times like this when I have to just shut up about how what passes for weather in California bores the crap out of me. 28607. judithathome - 5/12/2015 6:28:05 PM Just goes to show that even tornadoes don't want to visit Dallas.
Oh how I love this...need a bumper-sticker made up! 28608. arkymalarky - 5/21/2015 1:36:12 AM well, Mose is about to land in San Francisco. My son in law is giving a presentation at Stanford and working there a couple of days, and she got to go with him. her school is very nice to accommodate her for the trip. 28609. Ms. No - 5/21/2015 1:56:22 AM I hope they get a little time to explore the city. I wouldn't want to live there, but it's great to visit! 28610. arkymalarky - 5/21/2015 2:07:57 AM she'll have a lot. I doubt Tommy will have that much except in the evenings. she's already made a lot of plans and she's really excited to have some me time. 28611. arkymalarky - 5/21/2015 5:48:57 PM Okay. I'm getting food pics. I LOVE food pics.
Mose's description:
Organic Greek yogurt with honey, strawberries and walnuts and toasted Mayberry bread with Nutella mmmmm 28612. Trillium - 5/22/2015 4:30:36 AM San Francisco is food food food. If Mose has the opportunity, "Burma Superstar" might liven up her dream life with food dreams in the future... Samosa soup. Yum.
http://www.burmasuperstar.com/ 28613. arkymalarky - 5/22/2015 4:38:20 AM thanks for the tip! I will pass it on! 28614. judithathome - 5/22/2015 6:57:48 PM Arky, can y'all get Nutella there? If not (which I can't imagine) we'll bring some with us for Mose when we head your way.
I like it with PB on graham crackers...few and far between but a great snack. 28615. arkymalarky - 5/22/2015 7:42:00 PM Oh yes, we get it, but it's a splurge for her. She has planned for this food fest for weeks, and she'll be back to her standard fare when she gets home. She's walking everywhere, so that's something of an offset. 28616. judithathome - 5/22/2015 9:23:56 PM Calories don't count when you're on vacation! 28617. arkymalarky - 5/22/2015 10:53:40 PM That's her philosophy! 28618. Ms. No - 5/23/2015 6:21:37 PM Yeah, just don't pack them in your suitcase on your return trip!
