3404. judithathome - 12/8/2005 11:27:22 PM That's a lovely picture...the fading paper whites pick up the color in the straw ornament. 3405. thoughtful - 12/8/2005 11:38:30 PM Cake sounds yummy, juds.
Shot is terrific pelle...love the colors and the balance 3406. thoughtful - 12/9/2005 2:59:55 PM We're getting snow today...supposed to be a fast one coming through but dumping 4-8" in a matter of a few hours. Welcome winter. What ever happened to fall? 3407. wabbit - 12/9/2005 3:25:32 PM t'ful, it started snowing here about an hour ago. Yesterday the forecast was for up to 12", but now it's down to only 3". 3408. thoughtful - 12/9/2005 3:43:35 PM wabbit, when are you heading into hospital? I hope all is well. I'm concerned for you. 3409. wabbit - 12/9/2005 3:54:06 PM Thank you, t'ful. I'm having a total knee replacement done. Surgery is scheduled for 7:30am Monday. The doctors big concern with me is infection, because of the immune suppressant drugs I take, but I refuse to get an infection, so that's that. I expect to be just fine (in about a month). 3410. thoughtful - 12/9/2005 4:02:12 PM Well, my fingers, toes, eyes and knees are crossed for you that all will go well. Best way to avoid infection is to try and get out of the hospital as soon as possible...they're full of sick people!
3411. Macnas - 12/9/2005 4:08:07 PM Aren't they just? My daughter is just out, pneumonia in the left lung. 3412. wabbit - 12/9/2005 4:40:40 PM Thanks to Blue Cross, I should be out in about 5-6 days - they won't pay for in-hospital rehab, even though that's what should be done. No biggie to me, they'll send a nurse and a PT to the house every day for a few weeks, then less often once they see my rapid recovery. :)
Macnas, I hope your daughter is doing well, pneumonia is nasty. 3413. Macnas - 12/9/2005 5:36:08 PM She's doing fine so far wabbit, thanks.
There is a chest infection type bug which is tearing through the young population at the moment, hospital childrens wards full of coughing kids. 3414. Magoseph - 12/9/2005 5:49:43 PM I'm so glad your daughter is doing fine, Mac--lots of rhyming for you to do every night. 3415. wonkers2 - 12/9/2005 5:55:37 PM Take care, wabbit and macnas, knee replacements and pneumonia are nothing to fool around with. 3416. Magoseph - 12/9/2005 5:57:29 PM Best whishes, wabbit. 3417. PelleNilsson - 12/9/2005 6:33:09 PM Thanks for the kind words about the photo, Judith and thoughtful, and the very best wishes to wabbit. Hope your daughter wil be OK soon, Macnas. I'm sure she will, children have great recuperative powers. 3418. Ronski - 12/10/2005 1:39:39 AM Good luck and a speedy recovery, wabbit. They do wonders with knees now. And the PT really works. I've had numerous parts of myself worked over by therapists, parts I thought at times I would never have full use of again, and they're all working fine now.
We had no fall here, too. Seems like we went from summer directly into winter, which is pictured below: the driveway, this morning, just as the storm was ending, with about ten inches of fresh snow.
3419. judithathome - 12/10/2005 2:20:10 AM Hope everyone does well in the health department.
I second Ronski's advice abot PT...I'm walking today because of it! 3420. wabbit - 12/12/2005 3:42:00 AM Thanks, everyone. See y'all in a couple weeks! 3421. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 12/12/2005 3:58:39 AM Break a leg, wabb and show your beauty! 3422. thoughtful - 12/13/2005 8:54:08 PM Going to our co. xmas party tonight...usually very excellent food and lots of vino and good company. I generally enjoy myself quite a bit.
Tomorrow a.m. I'll be making a pot roast in the crock pot for dinner. Don't know why certain foods are very pedestrian yet shout comfort, like a pot roast, but there it is. And with a side of applesauce. Yum. 3423. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 12/13/2005 9:24:54 PM Just made a pot roast using a recent Cook's Illustrated recipe which explained everything about the process--I've been cooking a long time and I thought I understood what was happening when meat is cooked low and slow and in liquids, but this piece gave me much morel awareness into how meat breaks down over time. As a result all of my Italian veal dishes (like Osso Bucco and veal breast) have gone to the next level.
