Almost 6 years to the day.

We're having turkey tomorrow of course, but I'm posting this Czech duck because it looks delicious, and no one cooks duck as well as the Czechs do:

From a review of a Prague pub, U Dělového Kříže.

3914 - We used to drink what is now called "chai" back in the early 70's ...we called it "Russian Tea" which is in fact what "chai" is not though it happens to be the Russian word for tea

So Jen keeps telling me.

Local apple grower has closed for the season, but not before we got a basket of mutsus or crispins.

If you haven't tried them, they are a little bit of heaven on earth...one of the best apples I've ever tasted.

mutsu

Thanks for the tip, I love trying new apples!

3925. Ronski - 1/2/2007 9:23:53 PM

Have you ever had winesaps? An old variety, but my fave.

3926. robertjayb - 1/2/2007 9:31:55 PM

I'll look for them. We've been going through honeycrisp and jazz.

3927. TheWizardOfWhimsy - 1/2/2007 10:53:11 PM

Winesaps are goood! I like a tartish apple with the benchmark being Macouns at the top of their season.

Old girlfriend & hubby called last night and I asked them to dinner saturday night so I came up with this menu...

Selection of cheeses, crackers and pepperoni including stilton with ginger and apricots
Drinks as desired

Roast pork loin encrusted with garlic and caraway seeds
Apple chutney
Bourbon pecan smashed sweet potatoes (Rachel Ray)
Cauliflower with shallots and toasted bread crumbs
Salad with dijon vinagrette dressing(homemade, of course)
Whole wheat dinner rolls (homemade, of course)

Mixed berry buckle with ice cream
Hazelnut coffee or a selection of teas
Liqueur of choice served in chocolate cups

Did I miss anything?

Four recliners!

3934. wabbit - 1/5/2007 6:06:39 PM

My 17 year old niece is crazy about Rachel Ray. Dinner sounds delicious.

It's so wonderful having a stay-at-home-hubby...he's busy cleaning the house and doing the food shopping today so tomorrow all I have to do is cook and arrange flowers.

3936. wonkers2 - 1/5/2007 10:05:27 PM

Don't lay the whip on him too hard!

3937. thoughtful - 1/5/2007 10:24:38 PM

Nah...every once in awhile, if he gets cranky, i go out and buy him a new blouse...
