the problem with the volt is it's being designed to run only 40 miles on a charge vs. say the Tesla which is designed to run 220 miles without recharging.

If you want a 220 mile range, the batteries are currently too expensive for ordinary people to own.

Which leads me to think that the gov't should build the charging stations, and rent the batteries.

Yea Begich! Save us from Palin...

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Republican Sen. Ted Stevens, the titan of Alaska politics convicted of felony charges last month, fell behind by more than 800 votes Wednesday as the count resumed in his re-election bid.

Democrat Mark Begich, the two-term mayor of Anchorage, began the day down more than 3,200 votes but went up by 814 as officials resumed their counting of early and absentee ballots. The tally was 132,196 to 131,382.

Good news. Keep our fingers crossed. Wonder why it takes so long to count the votes in Alaska? Something fishy going on?

OECD Declares Global Recession

CAUTION: These are the same Pollyannas who said there'd be no recession just last June.

Out of the frying pan into the fire I urge everyone to watch the video "War Made Easy." It will blow your mind. At least it did mine.

Be happy, dear hearts, and allow yourselves a few more weeks of quiet exultation. It isn't gloating, it's satisfaction at a job well done. He was a superb candidate, serious, professorial but with a flashing grin and a buoyancy that comes from working out in the gym every morning. He spoke in a genuine voice, not senatorial at all. He relished campaigning. He accepted adulation gracefully. He brandished his sword against his opponents without mocking or belittling them. He was elegant, unaffected, utterly American, and now (Wow) suddenly America is cool. Chicago is cool. Chicago!!!

Obama's Chicago Boys

The political animals that roam Mayor Richard Daley’s City Hall are pragmatic deal-makers above all else, including ideology. They would rather win you over than roll you over. Power politics is a bipartisan affair in the Windy City.

only problem is he's been up to his eyeballs in this thing so far...and performance of the administration has been less than optimum...do we need more of the same? or do we need some fresh eyes...

That would be nice. I don't have any great ideas, except that I'm not a fan of Summers.

From the AP ...

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Wednesday she would consider serving in the Senate if God gave her the opportunity and Alaskans wanted her to take the job. The state's senior senator, Republican Ted Stevens, fell behind as the count resumed in his re-election bid.
